The Central PA Lawmen came together today at Twin Ponds to celebrate the excellent efforts of our 2021 Lawmen Campaign.

The Central PA Lawmen teams were comprised of 1 Mite (8U), 2 Sq**rt (10U), 3 Peewee (12U) and 1 Bantam (14U) teams this spring and summer. In addition, several Lawmen Summer Camps and Clinics were held to help support the growth of our players through skills and drills that focus on player development. The Lawmen teams, comprised of almost 80 players did all forms of activities like; odd jobs, sales of stickers, magnets, keychains, a number of player help fill the skate at local business, as well as personal donations of birthday money to support our local Veterans. These selfless acts helped support the Lawmen Campaign.

The 2021 Campaign came to a close as some of our players presented a check to Paul Spurgin, from Keystone Warriors in the amount of $14,587.00. Great work everyone!

Lawmen Youth Hockey Supports Veterans 2021, organized by Cara Flod 06/24/2021

Lawmen Players and Families are excited to launch the 2021 Central PA Lawmen Hockey Summer Campaign!

The 2021 Central PA Lawmen Youth Hockey teams have chosen to raise money this year in support Pennsylvania Veterans, in doing so, we will look to purchase Service Dogs for Veterans in need, as well as support life altering projects veterans in our state need to regain some form of normalcy in their lives as our summer community fundraising project.

Our overarching goal is to help Veterans receive a service dog for free. The training and the placement of service dogs has a cost of several thousand dollars, and most Veterans are required to pay that cost to get a service dog. Each service dog is individually and expertly trained based on the needs of their partner. The dogs serve a critical role in enhancing their partner's life and assist them so they can become more independent. These dogs have excellent manners, follow basic obedience cues, as well as specific tasks to mitigate their partner's disability and become an essential part of that Veterans life. In addition, many returning veterans need help with home improvements, things like ramp access and doorway modifications are very easy modifications that can change the way a veteran continues to function in society. These types of projects will not only change a veterans life, they will teach our players the value of working hard in support of someone other than themselves.

Last season, the Central PA Lawmen set a goal of raising $12,000 as a group, and ended up raising $11,750! This was an incredible accomplishment that took place during a national pandemic. While Veteran organizations struggled to gain support, the Central PA Lawmen rose to the challenge and delivered funding to support a very important organization. For this season, with more than twice as many players selected to be part of the Central PA Lawmen summer program, the coaches are setting the group goal at $17,000. Let’s see how many Veterans we can collectively help so they can obtain more confidence and regain the freedom in their personal lives after they have given so much to protect our freedom through their service to our great country.

The Central PA Lawmen have chosen to partner with the Keystone Warriors (https://keystonewarriors.org/) for the second year in a row to connect our group of amazing young athletes and future leaders with Veterans in need in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Keystone Warriors understand the challenges associated with finding and partnering Veterans with services dogs and home improvement needs. At the rate of which this program is growing, and the funding that these hockey players are providing, we rapidly outgrew using one source to train a dog and find Veterans to support. Keystone Warriors is the perfect choice to help us get the most impact from our hockey players’ hard-earned dollars. Keystone Warriors is an Eastern Pennsylvania non-profit 501c (3) organization that seeks to honor the daily sacrifices made by the brave men and women in all branches of the United States Military, but specifically those wounded on or after September 11, 2001.

Here is where the fun begins!!!

We challenge each player to raise $200 towards this great cause. You can fundraise however you like. We set up a GoFundMe account for this. You can simply send the link around to your friends and family asking for a donation…. But The coaches challenge you to do more. Work with your parents and team mates to create a fundraiser. Maybe you sell lemonade at your house, sell hotdogs at the local Bass Pro Shops or possibly talk to a local restaurant like Mission BBQ, Chipotle, or Texas Roadhouse (all great fundraising) and have a Lawmen night. The possibilities are endless of what you can do. If you are new to the Lawmen this year and would like ideas on the highest netting fundraisers over the last two years, please reach out to Coach Adam or Dan Kuba.

GoFundme Link: https://gofund.me/fb62b611
*All funds collected should be submitted into the GoFundMe account so we can all see how close we are getting to our goal!

This will be a great way for the Lawmen to give back to the community while fine tuning your leadership and business skills. This is also a great way to challenge your player to learn, to give, and to help support others. The Veterans and service dogs will be something we can see an impact this year and many more years to come.
