Checkout this summer opportunity offered by the Harrisonburg Police Department!

HPD, in partnership with Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation, will host a free basketball tournament on July 17, 2026, at Ralph Sampson Park in Harrisonburg.

This exciting 3-on-3 tournament will feature four age brackets: boys and girls ages 11–14 and boys and girls ages 15–17, with up to five players allowed per team. Participants will receive a T-shirt, and food will be provided for players and attendees.

The tournament promises to be more than just a day of basketball. With music, food, and friendly competition starting at 2:00 pm, the event is designed to bring our youth, families, and neighbors together for a fun-filled day at the park. DJ 360, Harvie Andrews, will provide entertainment throughout the event, ensuring an energetic atmosphere for players and spectators alike. HPD hopes the tournament will offer local youth an opportunity to build teamwork, enjoy positive engagement, and connect with officers and community members.

The event is free to attend and aims to celebrate community, recreation, and positive relationships between local youth and law enforcement. For registration information, please email [email protected] by July 1.
