Always a crowd favorite…Me & The Man of My Life!!!

On Tuesday , May 4, I, Center Stage Dance Academy, founder and director, Elizabeth Tolis, sent the message below to the current families of Center Stage Dance Academy. In the last 6 weeks, rumors have swirled, assumptions have been made and some of my greatest supporters and clients, over the course of the last 19 years have been begun reaching out with questions and concern as you are just hearing the news. So to clear things up…tomorrow, June 19th, I will close a 19 year chapter of my life that I will always look back on feeling blessed to have lived out my childhood dreams and I will move on to fulfill my dreams with my family! If you are an alumni, and are around, the recital will be held in the lot behind the studio at 10:30, 1 & 3:30…This is me personally inviting to stop by for a hug!

Good Evening Dancers and Families,

As we approach this June 19th recital, so much has happened in my life, over the last year both professionally and personally. We have all been challenged in ways never expected and those challenges have changed us all, in one way or another. The struggles I face on a daily basis, in regards to my home life, for years have been easier to manage because of my work. Over the last 10 years, the families, the students, staff, my assistants and the community have given me an opportunity to escape those struggles, while doing what I love most...teaching dance and encouraging so many on and off the dance floor. But an escape is only temporary and the needs of my family continue to require more of my time, with no real end in sight.

When the studio was forced to shut its doors in 2020, the time spent at home allowed me to reevaluate several areas of life, Center Stage Dance Academy specifically. After years of consideration and hours of prayer, the time has come for me to step back from full-time work and consider a life change to better fit the needs of my family in the future. This will be the final recital for Center Stage Dance Academy & I will be closing the school shortly after. My adult staff is aware. We understand that this will be an emotional time inside the studio and we are prepared to support the students as best we can.

As for me, I will be taking an undetermined amount of time off. Some of the staff will be working locally at other schools, but may or may not have summer or fall information at this time. The area is heavily saturated with dance schools. I encourage you to do your research with your specific dancer in mind, when selecting a school. Each school offers their own curriculum and with so many different options, I am sure that each dancer will find a new space that fits.

To the dancers, young and old... change can be tough. That’s not a kid thing, or an adult thing, it’s a life thing. Getting used to a new way of doing things can be frustrating and confusing, and it can also be exciting and exhilarating. It’s like anything in life, it’s all in how you choose to look at something. I hope each of you will continue to work hard and become the aspiring dancers I’ve always known you to be, well beyond your time at Center Stage.

For the next several weeks, my focus will continue to be planning an incredible recital for these dancers and I hope to continue making memories over the final weeks in the studio together!!!
