This college athlete presented with a persistent re**us femoris injury that had not responded as expected.

Using diagnostic MSK ultrasound, I was able to precisely localize the pathology to the mid-muscle belly of the re**us femoris, with no involvement of the musculotendinous junction.

A complete history, physical examination, and dynamic MSK ultrasound revealed severe gluteus medius and gluteus minimus tendinosis.

This is why I don’t believe in simply treating the area that hurts. Identify the structure. Confirm the pathology. Then build the treatment plan.

This 40-year-old, highly active hairstylist had been dealing with persistent upper back/periscapular pain for 5 years.

She tried to live with it, but for someone who uses her upper body all day, every day, it was miserable.

Using diagnostic MSK ultrasound, we were able to identify the abnormal fascia and myofascial tissues involving the trapezius and rhomboid region.

At her previous visit, we performed a targeted ultrasound-guided anesthetic injection to confirm that we were treating the right pain generator. The result supported our diagnosis.

This 68-year-old long-distance runner had been unable to run for several months because of persistent lateral hip pain.

She had never had an ultrasound evaluation of the gluteal tendons. Using diagnostic MSK ultrasound, we identified the areas of gluteal tendon pathology and were able to target the abnormal tendon directly.

We proceeded with high-concentration, double-spin PRP (LR Platelet-Rich Plasma) to the areas of tendinosis—at her very first visit.

We don’t treat the age of the patient. We treat the patient in front of us, and build the plan around their goals.
