Philly sports are full of big personalities, but there’s a little mental performance lesson hiding behind each one. 🦅⚾️🏒🏀⚽️ Whether it’s Swoop reminding us to choose courage, the Phanatic reminding us to have fun, or Gritty embracing the chaos, there’s something every athlete can take from the mascots we see on the sidelines.

Is it time you learn the mental skills to help you navigate the nerves, mistakes, pressure, and uncertainty that come with competing? After all, being a strong athlete isn’t just about what you do when things are going well, it’s about how you respond when they aren’t.

09/02/2026

Biggest thing chatter robs you of is your ability to focus on the moment in front of you. Learning how to be courageous in that moment even when confidence isn’t available is the key to our Courage over Confidence training course. We were offering one course for runners right now. Check out the Lincoln bio to sign up!

I get the frustration of having worked so hard in training yet still finding yourself lacking confidence when it comes time to race. That’s why I developed this course to help you manage that negative voice and for you to learn from me and others about best mental practices to be race ready. Come join us! Link in bio!

That athlete who looks completely confident? They may be just as nervous as you are.

We see other people’s outside and compare it to our inside. That’s why comparison can be so misleading—especially for young athletes.

You’re rarely seeing the whole story.

“I feel like I’m the only one who gets this nervous.”

We hear versions of this all the time from young athletes. Nervous Island is that place where nerves can make you feel alone, different, or like something is wrong with you, when really, nerves are a normal part of caring about something.

In our newest blog post, Maddie Wood, M.Ed, explores what it means to get off Nervous Island and learn how to navigate those nerves without letting them take over. To read our newest blog post go to the link in our bio!

It’s really easy to scroll through social media and wonder, “Why does everyone else seem to be doing better than me?”

But we’re often comparing our full story, the setbacks, bad practices, doubts, injuries, and disappointments, to someone else’s carefully selected moments. Social media can be a great source of inspiration, but growth happens when we invest our energy in our own path, not someone else’s.

Our newest blog, authored by Maddie Wood, M.Ed., Director of our Young Athlete Program, explores what social media doesn’t show and why growth often happens in the moments that never make the highlight reel. To check out our latest blog post, click the link in our bio!

The fact that social media gives us a snapshot — and not the full story — is frequently a topic that we discuss with our athlete-clients. When athletes compare their entire athletic journey to someone else’s highlight reel, it’s really easy to lose perspective. We encourage you to focus on your own path because it’s the one that matters most. Yet, it’s so easy to get knocked off your path — and we are here to remind you to limit your social media use if you want to escape the weight of social comparisons and sometimes overwhelming feelings of thinking you are in the wrong. media
