Philadelphia Youth GAA Gaelic football and hurling are the hottest and fastest growing sports in the United States, and are being played at schools like Notre Dame University!

Have you ever wanted to touch the ball in Soccer or get a score for sending it over the net? Both sports combine the skills of soccer, basketball, hockey and volleyball, and no, itโ€™s not Rugby. Boys and girls will have fun, fun, fun learning these sports, and a bit of blarney along the way. Local Leagues and National Tournaments are held in the following age groups: U-8 through U18.

In the US, we are celebrating National Youth Sports Week ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘

This week, we celebrate the incredible impact youth sports have on our young athletes: building confidence, friendships, teamwork, resilience, and a lifelong love of the game!

Across Philadelphia Youth GAA, we're proud to provide opportunities for children to learn, grow, compete, and connect with their Irish heritage through Gaelic games.

A special shoutout to our dedicated volunteer coaches, parents, and supporters who make it all possible! ๐Ÿ’š

It's about more than the game. It's about community, character, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

The Irish game of hurling is one of the oldest field games in the world. Hurling was first referenced in literature dating back over 3,000 years ago to the year 1272 BC. Even the old Irish Brehon Laws provided compensation for any injuries incurred during the game. Under British rule, the game was banned on multiple occasions, but during the Gaelic revival of the late 19th century, the Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in Thurles, County Tipperary. The organisation spread like wildfire. Within 18 months, the GAA had over 50,000 members and 400 clubs. The GAA is far more than just a sporting organisation, it is a symbol of Irish identity.
