The Herd Wrestling Club

And that’s a wrap on the 2025–2026 season for the Herd Wrestling Club!

We ended the year with our awards and annual pool party…plenty of fun, a little chaos, and a great way to celebrate this group.

To our coaches — thank you for the time, energy, and patience you pour into these kids. From practices to long tournament days, you continue to invest in them in ways that go far beyond wrestling.

Parents — thank you for the miles traveled, the weekends spent in gyms, and for mastering the art of holding seats, snacks, and sanity all at the same time. You are the real MVPs of wrestling season.

Next season marks our 5th year as a club, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve built together.

Big shoutout to our 6U crew who took on 6U State in Salina! (A little late I know 😬) We had four tough competitors step on the mat, and three of them battled their way onto the podium—an incredible accomplishment at this level.

And that’s a wrap on the 2026 Kids State Wrestling Tournament. So proud of our wrestlers and the heart they showed every match.

Huge thanks to Coaches Alivia and Tyler for the time and dedication you put into the kids this weekend.

Thank you to all the coaches who continue to support these athletes and the sport of wrestling. The time you give and the example you set is what keeps this sport strong.

Congratulations to all the wrestlers who fought their way onto the podium.

And a special shoutout to the parents who survived the marathon weekend. The long days in the stands, the emotional rollercoaster of every match, and the small fortune spent on concession stand food and hoodies. The real test of dedication came when you had to choose between watching your kid’s match or abandoning the coffee truck line you’d already been standing in for 45 minutes. (Zero judgment).

Wrestling parents are built a little different.

What a great weekend of wrestling.

I want to take a minute to talk about this kid. This morning didn’t go the way we all hoped. That’s wrestling. It’s a sport that shows no mercy and plays no favorites. But if that match gets wrestled again, I have zero doubt Kenneth wins it.

I’ve watched him wrestle since he was little, and he’s always been one of my favorites to watch. He’s the kind of wrestler you can never count out no matter what the score says. Down 0–9? Most kids start to fade. Not this one. This is the kind of kid who digs in deeper.

Kenneth has something you can’t teach. He’s patient. He studies people. He watches matches, reads his opponent, and when the moment comes he knows exactly what he needs to do. But more than anything, he wrestles with heart. The kind of heart that keeps coming, keeps believing, and keeps fighting until the very end.

Losses don’t define wrestlers like this. They build them. And this kid is going to be one to watch in the years ahead. If you’ve been around this sport long enough, you know the ones with this kind of heart eventually find their way to the top.

Hayden is the the championship also! Kenneth is battling his way back.

Day 1 results: while Gracelyn’s day didn’t go the way we’d hoped, We have no doubt she’ll be back again. We are very proud of the accomplishment of even making it to state. It’s a feat not everyone achieves. I hope all the kids this weekend that don’t make it into the medals, know how amazing they are for making it this far, and have someone to remind them of that.
