Our final inductee into the 2026 Hall of Fame class is Carma (Giebler) Chrisler. Carma was an outstanding all-around athlete, and was a pioneer for girl's sports in Hays when Title IX passed. Before she ever got to high school, she was advocating for the girls to have their chance to play little league baseball. She wanted the challenge of getting to compete against the boys.
Carma was a standout in both volleyball and basketball, and she also competed in track. She was a 3-year letter winner in volleyball and a 4-year letter winner in basketball. She was the first 4-year letter winner in basketball in Hays High history, as her freshman year was the first year Hays High had basketball. Freshman didn't get the opportunity to do volleyball or run track. Carma would help pave the way in girl's sports and by her senior year they finished 21-3 in volleyball and 13-4 in basketball. They didn't keep many records back then, but Carma's impact goes far beyond any stats.
From 1975-1979, Carma was a exceptional student-athlete for the Indians, competing with the same toughness, determination, and competitive spirit that would define her life for decades to come. We remember and honor Carma and her legacy she left on Hays High and this world.
Congrats to Carma Giebler and her entire family!

Our next inductee into the 2026 Hays High Athletics Hall of Fame class is Coach Bob Blazer. Coach Blazer started both the girl's and boy's golf programs at Hays High and created a culture and standard of golf that still remains to this day.
Coach Blazer started the boy's golf team in 1952 and the girl's golf team in 1982. For 38 years he led Hays High golf until he retired in 1989. His teams qualified for the state tournament 16 times, and the boy's golf team brought home 4 state championships. The boy's brought home sand green titles in 1953 and 1960, and they brought home grass green titles in 1978 and 1988. He coached 2 individual boy's state champions, Harry Ruder (1953) and Archie Thomas (1958). He coached 1 individual girl's state champion, Amy (Guffey) Jensen in 1987. He also coached Donna Lowen, who placed in the top 5 all 4 years of her career.
Coach Blazer coached many all-league teams and individuals. In 1977 he was the Kansas Golf Coach of the Year and the National District 5 Coach of the year. He also was a high school official for 40 years. The Hays High Boy's teams home meet at Smoky Hill is named in his honor. Coach Blazer was truly a pioneer for golf in Hays and is greatly missed.
Congrats to Coach Blazer!
