Bike Hayward

Bike Hayward along with Bike East Bay spent some time up at Cal State East Bay for their annual Al Fresco welcome event.

We are looking forward to seeing Pioneers on bikes around Hayward this fall semester!

Thank you to all that joined us for our August “Wayward in Hayward” ride as we rode a bit over 10 miles around South Hayward! 🚲

We always try to mix in different Hayward area neighborhoods along each route. Join us and spread the word for next time, every 3rd Wednesday evening of the month.

Bike Hayward will be holding our monthly Wayward in Hayward social ride on Wednesday, August 19th!

Let’s ride around South Hayward to Jackson Triangle then back south stopping along the way at Sorensdale Park and Spring Grove Park concluding with post ride hang at World Famous Hotboys.

Get ready to ride! 🚲

We spent a Saturday afternoon on Bike East Bay’s Bikes, Birds, Botanas ride out to the shoreline for some bird watching.

Rolled back into town ending things off with a gathering at Yoyo’s Botaneria. Thank you to all that came out to ride around our Hayward area!

We will be joining Bike East Bay for an afternoon around Hayward on Saturday, August 15th!

Join as updates on the Hayward on Wheels program will be provided as part of a Hayward Summer Community Gathering at Yoyo’s Botaneria starting at 2pm. This will be after Bike East Bay’s family-friendly, no-drop group ride on the Hayward Regional Shoreline.

The ride starts at South Hayward BART and ends at Yoyo’s Botaneria for the community gathering with free snacks and beverages for purchase. You are welcome to attend one or both events!

We will go westward into Hayward along with Hayward Acres, San Lorenzo and Cherryland making a return to Downtown Hayward. The ride will have a couple rest stops along the way at Southgate Park and Kennedy Park followed by a post ride hang at Susie Q’s Pizza.

Did you know that bikes are great educational tools? Today, Bike Hayward joined the Green Belt Alliance and the East Bay Dischargers Authority on a rolling (and fascinating!) lecture on the health of the Hayward Shoreline's wetlands. The implications of sea level rise, the treatment of central Alameda County's waste water, and the health of the ecosystem it relies on were major topics of discussion.

Big shout out to Cailin Notch from the Green Belt Alliance who led the bike bus from Bay Fair BART and to Jackie Zipkin of the East Bay Dischargers Authority for the in depth knowledge and insight to our beloved shoreline!

Join Bike Hayward as we partner with Greenbelt Alliance for our “Riding the Hayward Eden Area Shoreline Bike Tour” on Saturday, July 11th from 10am-12pm.

Let’s explore the Hayward/Eden Area Shoreline on two wheels and spot adaptation innovations along
the way.

Our shoreline bike tour will begin at the Hayward Regional Shoreline Parking lot and head south along the Bay Trail to the Hayward Interpretive Center (where we’ll regroup for a snack and bathroom break) and then head back up to our starting point. The round-trip will be approximately 10 miles.

During the tour, we’ll learn about the innovative sea level rise planning projects along the shoreline and is a great opportunity to experience
first-hand some of the nature-based solutions and man-made interventions that will help this region become more resilient to rising sea levels and groundwater intrusion.

For those biking to the starting point, we will also be leading a “Bike Bus” from Bay Fair BART (please indicate if you would like to join the Bike Bus in the RSVP)

This month, we are heading to a few unincorporated communities in our area of Cherryland, Ashland and Castro Valley returning to Downtown Hayward.
