After an absence of more than 55 years, a classic, life-sized bronze sculpture of the legendary American racehorse Seabiscuit was returned to its original home at Ridgecrest Ranch in Willits, California.
The statue was transported by an historic, fully restored Seabiscuit-era van once used at the ranch.
The final “whistlestop” was held aboard a historic Northwest Pacific caboose circa 1909-1971.
As the time honored van carrying the Seabiscuit statue arrived at Ridgewood Ranch, the magnificent old statue was finally back home.
A private ceremony was held at the place where the legendary Seabiscuit spent his final racing and retirement years, died, and was buried.

Get in front of your computer, iPad, phone, or Airplay it to your TV, grab a cup of coffee and a donut, your kids, your friends that are interested in turkey hunting, and learn about Wild Turkey Hunting from one of the experts.

For the 30th consecutive year Wilderness Unlimited will be sponsoring its annual Wild Turkey Hunting Seminar for our members. Outdoor writer, Ed Migale, will be conducting the seminar. Ed is one of California's most experienced turkey hunters with nearly 30 years of pursuing spring-time turkeys in 9 US states as well as Sonora, Mexico. The session will cover everything there is to know about hunting wild turkeys during the spring season.

Proper game management includes hunters doing their part to harvest predators like Cougars ( sorry California). If you are planning on Cougar hunting in Oregon this year or Rifle deer hunt, today is the last day to purchase a tag at Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife's link below. Do your part to manage the Cougar population and save the deer and elk population. Don't let Oregon become California. Non-Residents can hunt Cougars and contact The Oregon WU Office if you if harvest a Cougar so you won't waste the meat or be in violation of California law when re-entering that poorly managed predator program state.

Happy Independence Day!

In observance of Independence Day, the WU Office and Reservations will be closed. We will resume our normal business hours on Friday.

Deer Season Reservations-

California Archery and General Big Game Reservations are now open. Please call our reservation line to secure your trip. Good luck to all A-Zone Archery Hunters on July 13!

Fire Season Reminders-

When you spend time on WU ranches this summer and fall, always keep fire season in mind. Dry summer days with low humidity, high temperatures and strong winds can spread flames quickly, so extra caution is advised. Many leases specifically require WU members to carry firefighting equipment in your vehicle, including an axe, bucket, water, a full-sized shovel, and a fire extinguisher. Be extra cautious where you drive and where you park, as your catalytic converter may be hot enough to ignite dry grasses it touches. This information can be found in the Spring Magazine page 7 and page 25.

Membership Information-

Are you interested in information about membership so you can enjoy the benefits of hunting and fishing on private land behind locked gates?
