In case you missed Sleeping Beauty and Shall We Dance on May 23, you don’t want to miss out on our next session of classes. They start soon. Registration is now open. Our 48th annual Nutcracker plans also start soon for our December 12 shows at Chabot College.

Has the adrenaline rush slowed yet? We sure received a major blast on Saturday. Mine just finally crashed during the night, and then I woke up at 11:45AM today. Whew! What a wonderful run.

The past few days at CVCFA have been the final steps of an incredible journey that began in December. That was when BP’s amazingly dedicated and insightful staff started trying to convince me that our May 2026 program needed to be Shall We Dance AND Sleeping Beauty.

These are probably (definitely) our most complex programs, we hadn’t done this program since 2019 (we all understand that means it was Pre-COVID and all that entails), and the challenges would be huge (understatement of the year). Trusting our staff, and knowing deep down how wonderful it could be, I agreed.

Here we are on the day after. Whew! And Wow, Wow, Wow!! There is no doubt there are about 175 exhausted, yet content, dancers and guest boys. Parents are probably as tired as we are with all it takes to get their dancers to the finish line on show days. CVCFA crew hopefully knows that BP is always so grateful for their expertise in helping our shows look great and run smoothly on the tech end. Audiences may have ballet music stuck in their heads (welcome to our world), snippets of yesterday’s shows popping up in their memories.

We hope all this is happening, because what we did on that stage yesterday is really just the beginning for what else is to come for us all in our many tomorrows ahead.

We hope that our shared experience has brought some relief, some joy (heehee, pun intended, Miss Joy was here!), some wonder and curiosity about what we can accomplish when we work together on beautiful and positive things.

Thank you for your part in making our shows reach these heights. We can’t do this alone, and are grateful we can share the effort and results.

Tuesday we are back in the studio, closing up one circle, starting another. Classes continue through 6/14, with break 6/14-7/5. Summer session awaits 7/6-9/3. Then Fall / Nutcracker starts 9/6, with our next shows on Sat., 12/6.

The magic has begun. Tonight we ran our Blocking Rehearsal of Shall We Dance , with our special guest boys and Junior Company, and our first run of Sleeping Beauty with our entire school.

Tomorrow we add costumes, other than the few we used today. The adrenaline really kicks in then.

But the finished product will be revealed on Saturday at 2PM and 7PM. Come see us!

Summer Session registration is now open for classes July 6-September 3.

How do you get ready for an amazing upcoming weekend? What is your strategy?

Dancers rehearse, check their pointe shoes, balance ballet and school life (even with graduations, AP Tests, Band Concerts, basic life. It is a lot. But if you know dancers, they are experts at time management (for their relative ages), and give so much of their hearts to preparing their roles.

In between emails and phone calls today, I realized I have not been eating so well recently, so I did something about it. I hope dancers do the same. I finally tried out my version of a new recipe. (FYI- salmon is my all-time favorite. It makes my brain light up.) Bedtime will be on time (don’t ask the hour, I am a night owl.) Tomorrow morning I will take my friend in NYC’s Zoom ballet class in my living room. Thursday… Spring Concert 2026, here I / we come.

Thanks, Alli and Luis ( my youngest daughter and her husband ), for the after class veggie pick, and more, up on my way home. It was the push I needed to cook and eat well today.

Thanks, dancers for your hard work all these weeks. The big day is almost here and you are ready. Remember to eat well this week and manage your time as best as possible.

BP Parents, thank you for your trust, time, and support of our process. Thank you for keeping up with emails, and for reaching out when you have questions. Together, we do great things. We cannot do this without you.

And to our amazing staff- Miss Patience, Miss Leah, Miss Emily, Miss Nicole, Miss Emma, and Miss Sarah ( returning to regular staff soon, and subbing currently), you are the most amazing, dedicated, and inspiring people we could only hope to be around. If our dancers, parents, audiences only had a glimpse of what you do to make this happen… especially this year!! Incredible.

So… do you have your tickets? We may sell out, so don’t delay. The 2pm show is almost sold out, and 7pm may follow soon afterwards.

We all can use a break from life. Let’s spend that time together in the theatre on Saturday. Together we do great things. This includes all of us.
