I used to think a life with littles combined with a lot of travel sounded pretty laughable. 😂

An astrologer once told me travel would become a big part of my life. At the time, my passport had been expired for almost a decade.

Turns out, it’s written in the stars for me. ✨

Getting away has become one of the ways I find perspective. It pulls me out of my little orbit and reminds me how enormous the world is outside my own little corner of it. It helps me return to myself.

And lately, I’m realizing how much I’m craving actual experiences. Less information. Less scrolling. More changing the scenery, moving my body, meeting someone new and having little distractions.

Daniel first came into my world through our very own Studio members, Katie + Scott Stewart, who referred me to him.

And I can personally confirm: 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 🙌!

A few years ago, I badly bruised my ribs and went to see him. I walked away feeling like he had somehow put me back together again, and I’ve been a believer ever since.

Tarot curious… but maybe not quite curious enough to actually book a reading?

I get it.

I’d already dipped my toe into tarot a few years earlier thanks to my incredible friend and reader, Sarah Pastene, but in 2021 I somehow found myself on FaceTime with Pamela Racine, her in New York, me in California, for a reading.

I had no idea I was also about to meet a lifelong friend 🫶🏼

Pamela and I became instant long-distance friends, finally met in person in 2023, and now, five years later, she’s coming to Healdsburg to join us for Soul Reset. She’ll also be joining me in Guatemala this January as a guest facilitator on our retreat (✌️spots left) ❤️!

Love is magic.

She is one of those rare people who seems to understand the energy in a room, a body, a person, without a word being spoken. There is an intuition to the way she works. A listening.

Yesterday, some of our teacher team gathered at River Electric to soak up the sun and be together outside the walls of The Studio ☀️

At one point we were talking about how this team feels a bit like a wave, always in circulation. Teachers arrive, teachers move on, some have been here since the very beginning and others are newer to the fold. And yet the essence always remains the same.

The constant is the quality of human. The warmth. The openness. The trust. The willingness to show up fully, support one another, inspire, and genuinely care. And then of course… 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵.

We are deeply grateful for what exists here. Not just the movement we teach, but the people who make this community what it is.

Last week, we tragically and unexpectedly lost our beautiful friend and studio member, Jill Shadek, to a brain aneurysm at just 41 years old, only weeks after welcoming her second daughter, Della, into the world.

Many of you knew Jill from The Studio over the years. Bright-eyed, quietly magnetic, funny in that dry effortless way, and deeply kind. She carried a warmth that made people feel instantly at ease and seen.

What many people may not know is that Jill also helped shape The Studio itself from the very beginning. When the space was still just studs and concrete, Jill helped design many of the details and elements that became the home our community now gathers in every day. Her creativity and eye for beauty are woven into the walls of this place and into the feeling people experience when they walk through our doors.

Jill moved through the world with authenticity and heart. She was adventurous, intuitive, wildly intelligent, and able to connect naturally with people from every walk of life. She brought lightness wherever she went, whether in conversation, on the dance floor, or simply in the way she showed up for the people she loved.

She leaves behind her husband Mike and their two beautiful daughters, Fiona and baby Della.

Our hearts are with their family and all who loved her so fiercely. We will continue to hold them in love and community in the weeks, months, and years ahead.
