Thursday the Blue Devils finished the regular season against Tri-Valley. More importantly, it was our senior night where our two seniors were honored.

The first was Haylie Marcotte. This is her 3rd year of bowling. Some of her other activities and accolades include marching band where she was a tenor sax squad leader, winter guard, quiz team captain, student councilblood drive ambassador, key club president, National Honor Society, and is in a pre-apprenticeship program at JME. She plans to go to college and major in early childhood education.

Senior Dillon Rush is a 4 year letterman in bowling. He plays trumpet in the marching band and is a member of the National Honor Society. Dillon is a 3x LCL 1st team player, 2x LCL Player of the Year, and he bowled the only 300 game in program history. Dillon plans to attend college.

On to the match info, both teams fell short. The boys were defeated 2,402 to 2,056 and the ladies were edged 1,862 - 1,859. Matthew Mettler lead the boys with two games of 216 (432) Olivia Bratton rolled games of 214 & 179 (393).

Thank you to everyone who brought food. It was a nice spread and everything I tried was delicious!

The Blue Devils return to action at least one more time at the OHSAA District Tournament. The tournament is on Wednesday February 25th at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe. Play begins at 11:00.

The Blue Devils faced off against Heath yesterday. The ladies were victorious in an eventful match with Olivia Bratton leading the way with games of 194 & 255 (449). Aleah Rush had a 365 series; Haylie Marcotte followed with a 362. Azora Klinehoffer also had a personal high game of 118.

The ladies 2,069 total pins is the highest total in at least the past five years. The second game total of 993 pins is the highest since Zanesville scored 826 on January 15, 2024 against Tri-Valley.

The gentlemen came up short in their effort to avenge last week’s loss to Heath 2,191 to 1,979. Jayden Nutter led the boys with games of 174 & 198 (372) followed by Matthew Mettler 160 & 211 (371). Zackary Dunn put together a good night as well with a 161 & 189 (340).

On a personal note, I’d like to give a shout-out to our boys. At the beginning of the season we talked about competing with honor, showing sportsmanship, and being great representatives for our community, school, and families. Teams have complimented me on how much fun it is to play us with the energy, joy, camaraderie, and sportsmanship we bring to the lanes. Last night, one of the parents from Heath asked if she could take a picture of both teams together after the match. She loved how supportive both teams were of each other. Heath’s coaches had a lot of positive comments too. We may have lost on the scoresheet, but we picked up a win that goes beyond the game.

Nice job gentlemen!
