🎉Congratulations to our May 2026 Mat Monsters!
Even with school coming to an end, summer starting, a holiday, and everything else that happens in May, these students showed consistency on the mats by showing up to at least 10 classes (kids) or 12 classes (adults) in just one month!
🎁June will be the last month to make Mat Monsters to get in for the first prize drawing before we start the next round 👀

🥊🥋The OAJJ Instructor Team is Expanding - Welcome Coach Jess and Coach Steven!
🥊Coach Jess joins our team as an assistant instructor for our Integrated Combat Systems program. She brings over 10+ years of martial arts experience, with amateur records of 2-0 in Muay Thai, 2-0 in boxing, and 2-2 in MMA. She has a pro record of 1-3-1, has fought for a WBA title, and holds two boxing championship belts. Jess earned her Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belt from Professor Jason Matherley and Professor Derek, and has competed 12 times in BJJ, including 5 gold medals with one coming from the Arnold Sports Festival in 2025.
🥋Coach Steven is a BJJ purple belt that comes to us from Atlanta, Georgia, where he most recently trained under Kenny Kim. He brings years of mat experience along with a technical, detail-oriented approach to his game. He will be sharing some of his favorite open-guard concepts, details, and strategies in a new class he will lead every Friday at 6pm!
We're excited to add these two to our team as our academy continues to grow, and we're grateful for the experience, knowledge, and energy they each bring to the mats.

🎉Congrats to the OAJJ Competition team at IBJJF Nashville!
Everyone on this team turned around quickly after competing only two weeks ago at IBJJF Columbus. Just as everyone medaled then, they all brought home hardware again this weekend!

🎉 OAJJ April Mat Monsters!
The adults really came out and showed consistency in April and we have a lot of new names on the board!!
💪 Several returning names for both adults and kids, but also really awesome to see some brand new members meet the class quota in their first month to make the Mat Monster Club!
As we prepare for the June Grappling Industries, we anticipate the May Club will also show a ton of names 👀
