It gives us great pleasure to announce that Unicoi State Park will be hosting a Custom Turkey Call Makers Show next year. Unicoi was where many of the great call makers came to display and sell their calls. After several years of not having a show in Unicoi, it is returning to its roots. Some of the great call makers have passed on; but, the love for call making and the lor
e of the wild turkey is as strong today as it was years ago. Many of the call makers that helped make this show great will be returning this year. This show is for the custom call makers and turkey hunters alike. This show isn’t just an opportunity to buy custom made turkey calls. It is a time to get together with folks of a common interest, the American Wild Turkey. It is a time to talk to some of the great turkey hunters that have been building calls and hunting turkeys before many of us were even born. It is a time to see old friends once more and a time to meet new ones. One of the things to be remembered most is the getting together at night and listening to the great hunting stories. It was a chance to listen to yarns being spun about this or that individual. You got to learn about who came up with this or that call. This show will allow you to play the calls before buying so that you can be sure of getting a call that suits you. One that has the sounds that you are looking for built into it. This show is designed as well for the up and coming call makers. It will allow them to talk to some that have been building calls for over 40 years. That they may pick up some pointers as to what it takes to turn a good turkey call into a great turkey call. With a “no vendor fee”, this show will allow a call maker to display his or her work without having to worry about an expensive vendor space. Unicoi State Park has graciously agreed to host this show for this year to bring a custom call making show back to its roots! Come join us this year at the first annual Unicoi Custom Call Makers Show at Unicoi State Park, located in Helen, GA. Dates: January 12th & 13th, 2018
Time: Friday…9:00-5:00, Saturday 9:00-5:00, with a full buffet after the show on Friday.
