R.I.P. Greg Pusey (1953-2025), who played OF/1B for the Helena Senators from 1970-72. Greg passed away in Chelan, Washington, last year at the age of 71. The lanky 6'2" Pusey was a member of two State AA Legion runner-up teams, in 1970 and '72. In 1972, he performed one of the more historic offensive feats in Senators lore, when he ripped off a phenomenal 41 game hitting streak - a team record which still stands, 54 years later. Greg hit safely in 48 of 49 games played and led the club with 84 base hits, while posting a .375 batting average. Pusey batted .284 and .300 his first two seasons, earning the 1971 Sportsmanship Award. He finished his Legion career with 185 hits, 24 doubles, 133 runs and a .326 BA. A 1971 HHS alum, after graduating from Western Montana College in 1976, Greg made his home in Chelan.
