Last April we held Buddy Week at Strong Fitness.

Several people came in to give us a try.

Two of them stayed.

Darlene and Blanche. ❤️

You’ve gotten to know both of them a little lately.

Darlene was 85 and couldn’t stand up from a bench without using her hands when she started. Now she’s getting herself up off the FLOOR.

Blanche was already one pretty capable woman when she walked in—and she’s gotten stronger, steadier and better able to keep doing all the things she has absolutely no intention of giving up. 😂

Two very different women.

Two very different starting points.

Two very different reasons for training.

And both of their Strong stories started the same way:

Someone invited them to Buddy Week.

That’s what I love about this week.

You don’t have to convince your friend that she needs to “join a gym.”

Just say, “Come with me.”

Let her experience it for herself.

Buddy Week is next week, September 14–18.

So…who are you bringing? ❤️

What does strong look like at 66?

Meet Blanche.

Blanche is one of those women who has always just…done things.

She lives alone and values her independence. She recently stripped, sanded and restained her deck. She built her own fence—with some help from her son. And yes, that’s her in the picture, covered in drywall mud after helping finish her daughter’s basement.

A few years ago, she even biked and camped her way down part of the Pacific Coast with a friend.

But here’s what I love about Blanche’s story:

She didn’t come to the Studio because she couldn’t do things.

She came because she wants to keep doing them.

Blanche joined us during Buddy Week last April. Since then, she’s gotten stronger and noticed improvements in her balance and mobility. And the things she does in everyday life are getting easier.

That’s the win.

Because maybe you have absolutely NO desire to build a fence or bike down the coast. 😂

But maybe you want to work in your garden.

Travel.

Get down on the floor with your grandkids—and back up again.

Carry your own groceries.

Live in your own home.

Keep doing the things you do for yourself now.

That’s what strength is for.

Blanche has things to do. And so do you.

What do you want to still be doing at 66? At 76? At 86?

Whatever it is…train for it.

Training for Life.

P.S. Blanche first came to us during Buddy Week last April. Our next Buddy Week starts Monday. Maybe this is your week to see what getting stronger could do for your life.

Four people can walk into the Studio at the same hour and need four completely different workouts.

And that’s kind of the point.

One person may be working on balance.

Another is trying to build enough strength to get herself off the floor.

Someone else wants to lift heavier than she ever thought she could.

And somebody may be working around a cranky knee, shoulder or back that requires us to change the plan a little.

Same hour. Same Studio. Different needs.

That’s why I love small-group personal training.

You get the coaching and individual attention you need…

AND you get people beside you who notice when you’re getting stronger, encourage you when something is hard, and occasionally join you in complaining about whatever I’ve put on the board that day. 😂

Small Groups. Big Results.

That’s what we do.

Apparently May’s Core Bonus was such a good time that you’ve all been asking me to bring it back.

I question your definition of “good time,” but okay. 😂

So…September Core Bonus starts Wednesday!

We’ll use the same format we did in May—but with a whole new set of exercises. On every Strength day, we’ll add another core exercise/minute until we’re eventually doing 10 straight minutes of core work at the end of the month.

And here’s the thing…

It WORKED.

By the end of May, you guys were noticeably stronger through your core. Exercises that were hard at the beginning of the month weren’t nearly as hard anymore. Several of you told me your backs were feeling better, too.

You noticed the difference.

Which is exactly why you’ve been asking to do it again.

So I suppose I have no choice but to give the people what they want. 😏

CORE BONUS IS BACK.

New exercises. Same challenge.

Wednesday we start with Minute #1.

Ten minutes…here we come. 💪

And remember—you asked for this. 😂

School’s back in…

Are YOU? 👀

Summer has a way of doing a number on our routines.

And that’s okay. We traveled. We had company. We stayed up late. We ate the ice cream. We enjoyed summer.

But September has arrived, and there’s something awfully nice about getting back into a rhythm.

So if your workouts got a little…sporadic…over the last few months, consider this your friendly reminder:

Class is back in session. 😏

Strong clients—open that app and get yourself back on the schedule.

And if you don’t go here yet but you’ve spent the summer thinking, “I really need to start doing something…”

Come see us.

No prerequisite required. 😉

THIS. ❤️

This is why we do what we do.

When Darlene started at Strong Fitness during Buddy Week last April, she couldn’t stand up from a bench without using her hands.

We’ve been working on it. She’s gotten stronger and stronger.

But from the beginning, the goal was not just standing from a chair.

It was getting up from the FLOOR. We started with help from a bench. Then progressed  to help from a BOSU.
But last week she did it without anything to pull herself up on.

I’m not entirely sure Darlene believed it was going to work the first time she tried. 😂

But up she went.

And as of today, she’s done it SEVEN times. Yes, I AM counting. Because it’s awesome.

At 85 years old this isn’t about getting really good at exercising.

It’s about being able to get yourself off the floor.

It’s about independence.

It’s about continuing to do the things life requires of us for as long as we possibly can.

And it is NEVER too late to get stronger.

Way to go, Darlene. I’m SO proud of you, and the rest of your studio community is, too. ❤️

Something NEW is coming to Strong! 🎉

We’re adding PILATES to our schedule!

Beginning soon, Tavi’s Tuesday and Thursday classes will be Pilates, while I’ll continue teaching our Core + Conditioning classes during my hours.

Pilates is such a great complement to the strength work we already do—challenging your core, control, mobility, stability and body awareness in a completely different way.

And I have to give Tavi some well-deserved props. ❤️

She took it upon herself to pursue her Pilates certification so she could bring another training option to our clients, and I’m pretty darn proud of her for doing it.

More options. More ways to get stronger. And probably a whole new collection of muscles you’re going to discover you had. 😂

Way to go, Tavi! I can’t wait for you guys to try this!

We’re three weeks into ARM BONUS month, and I’ve discovered something…

It’s not particularly easy to love the extra arm work. 😂

But stronger arms?

THOSE are pretty easy to love. 💪

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we’ve been sneaking in a little extra work at the end of class—and those extra sets add up.

More strength for carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling all the things life asks us to.

And if a little extra arm definition happens to show up along the way…

We’re certainly not going to complain about THAT. 😏

The exercises, however?

Complaining is apparently still allowed. 😂

08/24/2026

Maybe you haven’t been as consistent this summer as you planned.

Okay.

You don’t need to make up for it.
You don’t need to punish yourself for it.
And you definitely don’t need to wait for September 1st to declare some grand new beginning.

Just come back.

One workout becomes two.
Two becomes a week.
A week becomes your routine again.

We’ve all had seasons when life knocked our good habits sideways. The important part isn’t never getting off track.

It’s learning how to get back on.

So if summer has gotten the better of your workout routine lately…

I’ll see you at the Studio. 😉
