Huskies serving their community.

A bunch of our varsity guys spent today serving lunch at Swanhaven Manor Retirement Community’s Summer Blowout Party, “Summer’s Last Huddle.”

Our guys greeted residents, helped them get seated, took drink orders, served lunch, and cleaned up afterward. More importantly, they got the opportunity to meet and connect with some great people—including longtime Hemlock community members and HPSD supporters.

Football is about more than what happens between the lines. It’s about learning to serve, lead, represent your community, and becoming the kind of young men others can count on.

Proud of these guys for stepping outside their comfort zones and making a difference. By all accounts, it was a great time!

Congratulations to #70 Tristyn Church, our Varsity Player of the Game!

Tristyn was on the field the entire night, starting on both sides of the ball at offensive tackle and defensive end. In a very physical game in the trenches, he shined, tallying 6.5 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 pass breakup. Great work, Tristyn! Keep setting the standard!

Congratulations to #68 Paxton O’Dell, our JV Player of the Game!

Paxton put in the work this offseason, dramatically improving his game, and it showed on the field this week. He led the offensive line with numerous key blocks while stepping up to play multiple positions wherever his team needed him.

Paxton also made an impact on the defensive side of the ball, starting at inside linebacker and adding 5 tackles. That kind of versatility and willingness to do whatever the team needs is what Huskie Football is all about. Great work, Paxton! Keep it rolling!

Congratulations to sophomore Cam Peters, our first Player of the Game of this season!

Cam embodies everything we want out of our athletes. He has one speed: FULL SPEED. He’s extremely coachable, and when he makes a mistake, he learns from it and moves forward. On Thursday night, Cam found out he would be starting at left tackle just seconds before the National Anthem. He stepped up without hesitation and helped pave the way for 222 rushing yards in a hard-fought game. That’s the “Next Up” mentality.

Cam also started at outside linebacker, adding 5 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Way to step up, Cam!

Tonight Hemlock Football hosted our 2nd annual Big-Man Pancake Dinner. The event is meant to celebrate all those who won’t score the TDs, won’t have their names in the papers, won’t have their highlights on tv, but WILL be responsible for making all those things happen for their teammates… the Linemen! A big mantra for the program this year has been “Team first, self last”, and who exemplifies that better than our big guys up front!

The evening started with a yard-game olympics consisting of a closest to the pin golf shot, corn hole, ladder ball, and horseshoes. We put the guys into six 2-man teams orgainized by grade. The winning team of Mox Huston and Parker Priest represented the senior class well by winning 3 of the 4 events. Then, we ate pancakes… A LOT of pancakes. The night finished with a campfire and some good team bonding. Our backs are lucky to have this crew paving the way!

Tomorrow marks the soft opening for another exciting school year at Hemlock HS! Open house begins at 6:30 PM, with the fall sports meeting beginning at 7:00 PM.

Hemlock Football would like to invite families in attendance to consider donating to our bottle and can drive taking place in the athletic event parking lot. The trailer will be out there starting at 4:00 PM, and will stay out there until the open house is in full swing.

Good luck to all Huskies, big and small, in the classroom and on the field!
