Juneteenth is an important holiday in which HUWRFC would like to celebrate unity and recognize this day’s deep rooted history! ❤️💛🖤💚

As May comes to an end, we wanted to commemorate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by celebrating AAPI communities and giving the stage to our AAPI athletes, who are often underrepresented in contact sports, an outlet to share their experience with rugby.

🌟🎓 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🎓🌟

Jen “Toes” Brandes is receiving a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor inPhysical Therapy. Beginning this summer, Jen will be attending the College of Staten Island Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. She joined the team her freshman year making this goodbye so bittersweet. Jen has been an outstanding captain and leader to HUWRFC, making strong tackles and game winning try’s, we couldn’t be more grateful for such an MVP of a rugby player.

🌟🎓 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🎓🌟

Grace “Red” Kokasko is receiving a Master of Science in Marine Biology and a PhD in Marine Parasitology. Her future plans include moving to North Carolina this summer to continue her research in parasitology. Grace has been a part of this team for two years and has served as the Director of Social Media this past year. Being a role model for the forwards, she has proven time and time again to get back up when knocked down and continue tackling like there’s no tomorrow! HUWRFC is going to miss her iconic pink scrum cap!
