Hello All,
The East Texas Flag Football League is considering increasing the age limit for boys from 12 years old to 14.
We started the league about 15 years ago when flag football was not a very popular sport. It was considered vastly inferior to youth tackle football and soft by many.
At the time, there was no interest in flag football once junior high football became available for 7th and 8th grade boys. Parents were not aware of the dangers of tackle football at that age and the possibility of theur child developing CTE, a condition associated with repeated head trauma. That is no longer the case and we have recently received several calls from parents asking where their 13- or 14-year-old sons can play flag football.
Therefore, to gauge interest we request if you have a 13 or 14 year old child interested in playing flag football please go to ‘easttexasflagfootball.net’ and register but DON’T PAY. If we have enough interest, we will consider adding a 13–14-year-old co-ed division. You will be contacted either way.
BTW. Just fyi It is OK to play both flag and tackle at the same time. There is no rule against it
You can go to ‘easttexasflagfootgall.net’, then ‘FAQ’ link for frequently asked questions and more league info.
Thanks!

Just FYI, the East Texas Flag Football League moved back the start of the season one week. We did this to allow more time for registrations after school starts so we can ensure most parents are notified. The registration fee and all other details remain the same.

Just FYI,
The EAST TEXAS FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE now offer you the opportunity to sponsor a PLAYER ($80) as well as being able to sponsor a TEAM ($250).
Sponsorship of a CHILD is one of the most powerful ways you can make a difference in a child’s life. When you sponsor a child, you connect directly with a child facing tough circum-stances and provide them with the opportunity to enjoy the great sport of flag football like every kid should.
Many children are unable to play flag football because of family financial barriers. It could be a neighbor's child, your child's classmate, a co-worker's child, or even a child from your church. And so on.
Sponsoring a TEAM would not only be a great way to get involved with the community, it's also an amazing form of marketing for your business. In 2025 we attracted over 200 players from Henderson, Arp, Beckville, Bullard, Carlisle, Carthage, Cushing, Flint, Garrison, Kilgore, Laneville, Longview, Mt. Enterprise, New Summerfield, Overton, Tatum, Timpson. Troup, Tyler, West Rusk and Whitehouse. That means your business would have branding in front of hundreds of people, including players, parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends. With that type of exposure, everyone will remember that you and/or your company supported us.
You are invited to attend the games so can witness first hand the direct impact of your generosity!.

Just FYI again,
A few Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about flag football:
1) If I play tackle football on my 7th grade school team can I play flag football also?
Yes! There is no UIL rule against playing both. A local school district parent recently entered his sons' entire 7th grade team. They played tackle on Thursday night and ran same plays on Saturday mornings in flag games.
2) If we don't have enough players from my community to form a team will all local players be placed on same team anyway?
Yes. However, it may be necessary to combine communities to form a team. The coach will determine practice location and times.
3) My high school doesn’t have a flag football team, but I want to play flag football. What do I do?
Find a FLAG league in your area and sign up for a team. Some FLAG leagues, Including the 'East Texas Flag Football League, offer girls high school divisions. Ideally you could have enough players sign up from your community to form your own local team and avoid travel for practice. Recruiting players from your area or school is not only allowed but encouraged.
4) I play other sports; can I still play flag football?
Yes. Interested girls may register independently and be placed on a team with local players. Also, girls high school spring sport coaches (basketball, soccer, softball, track) may register their entire team to build unity during their normal off season,
