🥉 for Desiree in Aspire 3 Free Skate at Skate Vegas!

A real victory as the nerves hit stronger today for whatever reason (as they are prone to unpredictably do).

In her program, she held onto every landing and managed to skate cleanly. Her incredulous smile as she exited the ice informed me - mission accomplished! She will grow in confidence in her muscle memory and training. ⛸️

I remember those early days of just staring at you and trying to garner every cue and clue of your essence. The essence that I felt when you were in my belly. No sharp kicks or heartburn (despite that head of hair!) — traits that have defined your first twelve years as well.

My mom was the one to encourage me to reinstate to amateur in order to ice dance in college at Tufts University following a two-year deferral with Disney On Ice.

We deemed this my “Caryn Kadavy” dress testing my Viennese Waltz with Ron Kravette at the Skating Club of Boston (in Brighton).

We had a great time at the annual banquet tonight!

Desiree received her first test certificate from USFSA for passing Pre-Preliminary Skills with honors!

A beautiful clean skate for Desiree in Aspire 3 Free Skate this morning! 🥈 ⛸️

My mom always said, “Make sure you’re in the pictures, Sar.” Easier said than done! I tell her “now”. Thankful to Desiree’s teammates’ parents for taking the pictures I wouldn’t otherwise have. ♥️

I never anticipated my daughter would become a figure skater.

I didn’t want her to feel obligated or operating under my shadow in any way. But, when she discovered skating during the pandemic (when I moved back to Boston), I was thrilled to expose her to the joy of being on the ice and my favorite things.

#1 Synchronized Skating

By bringing the “team” aspect to an individual sport, our young skaters can experience the comraderie and challenges of skating together along with personal gains from peer upskilling.

Life comes full circle.
