Amazing two days celebrating 64! I had dinner at Carmines and Peter Lugers thanks to my lifelong friend Bob Bales. Even had 2 full 8’s out on the lake yesterday! Thanks for all the birthday wishes and the donations for our Lake Las Vegas Rowing Club 2x’s. We have a ways to go but a good start.

Tomorrow is my 64trh Birthday. Wow times flies. I have had the privilege to be a rowing coach for almost 43 years, with only a few years off. So many great kids, club members and memories at Cal Maritime, UCSB, Marin Rowing Association, Riversport OKC and now Lake Las Vegas Rowing Club.
The toughest place to run a program has been here in Las Vegas. The Clark County school district has a formal ANTI Club Sport policy, so we are not allowed to visit any schools. We have one of the most beautiful lakes to row on. The athletes we do have are amazing, but just not enough of them yet to make it sustainable. But I am staying here and will find a way to make it grow.
The LLVRC needs some better doubles and as it happens Marin Rowing is selling 3 Filippi 2x's named the "Ace", "Sydney" and "Barbey". For those that don't know, Ace and Sydney were our 2 Australian Shepherds that rode the launch with us every practice. Roger Barbey was the Club President and a very good friend. He had a huge positive influence on everyone around him. The LLVRC is trying to raise money to buy these boats and help us win some races. If you would like to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Michelle Walter earns another Silver medal in a personal best time of 4:22 in the Women’s C1x event. Losing to a former Olympian is fine for a Novice rower! Well Done!
