Hi everyone,

We wanted to send out a quick update regarding a few changes we have made to the remainder of the season and our tournament format. Since our originally planned midseason tournament fell on Halloween, we felt it made more sense to eliminate that tournament and allow everyone to enjoy Halloween with their families rather than trying to build a tournament around it.

Instead, we have restructured the end-of-season tournament to hopefully make it more competitive and enjoyable for every team. We will begin with a three-game round-robin seeding round, and the results of those games will determine which teams advance into the A Tier and B Tier for the final championship games.

The top teams coming out of the seeding round will compete in the A Tier Championship, while the remaining teams will compete in the B Tier Championship. This means every team will still be playing for something at the end of the season, with the opportunity to finish as either Champion or Runner-Up within their tier.

We really like this format because it should create more competitive matchups across the board. It also gives teams that may have struggled during the regular season an opportunity to finish strong, compete against teams closer to their level, and potentially end the season with a championship. At the end of the day, we want the kids to have fun, compete, and leave the season feeling good about what they accomplished.

The schedule in SportsEngine has been updated to reflect the changes, so please take a look when you get a chance. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out.

Good afternoon HIHA families,

I wanted to send out a quick update and let everyone know about a change within HIHA. Tyler has decided to step down as President, and after talking with him and our board, I have agreed to step back in as Interim President effective immediately while we work toward finding the right person to take over the position long term.

Having served as President previously, I’m glad to step back in and help keep things moving. As always, I’m here if you need anything, have questions, concerns, ideas, or just want to talk about the league. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With that said, today is GAME DAY! Hopefully this is the last hot game day of the year, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the rink tonight!

Just a quick reminder for tonight and the rest of the season: if your team is the home team, your team is responsible for providing a scorekeeper for that game. Parents can check the Score Booth Sign-Up page below to see if someone has already signed up for their game. If the spot is still open, please consider signing up so we can keep all of our games running on schedule.

We’ll also be on the lookout for some new board members soon. HIHA is only as strong as the people willing to get involved and help make it better for our kids. HIHA Evaluation Update

Due to the current extreme heat and high heat index conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this season’s player evaluations.

With temperatures remaining dangerously high, we want to prioritize the safety and well-being of our players, coaches, and families. The combination of extreme heat, elevated heat index values, and the potential for rink conditions to become slick creates unnecessary safety concerns for everyone involved.

We know many players and families have been looking forward to evaluations, and we appreciate your understanding as we make this decision with player safety as our top priority.

🏒 What’s Next?

The HIHA Draft will move forward as scheduled on Thursday, August 20th.

Coaches and league staff will use the information already available to build balanced teams for the upcoming season. We are excited to get the season underway and look forward to seeing everyone at the rink!

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of HIHA. We appreciate our players, parents, and coaches for helping us make the best decision for our hockey community.

Oh....Also, can we take a second to appreciate the AI bringing back the vintage Franklin plastic hockey blade? 😂 Pretty sure every kid in the ’90s had one of those in the garage. Evaluations may be canceled, but apparently the 1992 Franklin plastic hockey blade has been cleared to play. 😂🏒

Good afternoon, we have had to make some additional changes to our Fall 2026 schedule. I have outlined the changes below.

Evaluations will now be on August 17th - sign in will start at 5:30pm. Evaluations will be done by your players current age group. If they wish to play up they must attend both their current age group's session and the next age levels to be eligible to play up.
