This client spotlight goes to Shirley!

Shirley joined our program to get back to being active and rebuild strength. She was always involved in sports and activities, but during the pandemic she got to a point where her body wasn’t what she was used to anymore. The main problem that held her back was getting started again. She was waiting for a time to be ready when there never was one- she just needed to start. She knew she wanted to feel better about herself and that working out would improve all aspects of her life by making her more productive. At the beginning she was overwhelmed and lacked motivation and the readiness to start exercising again.

From being in the program she feels so much better about herself and can look in the mirror and see the progress she has made. Her mindset has shifted from an “all or nothing” mindset to appreciating all the small steps that add up to the progress she has made. She feels great knowing that she’s on this journey and will stick to this path to be in an even better place in the future. She enjoys the encouragement, reminders of self-compassion, and that the support isn’t only inside the gym, but also through check-in’s, reminders to complete tasks and articles outside of sessions. She has overcome her struggles of motivation and inactivity and is back to her active lifestyle that she once had.

Shirley’s advice for anyone dealing with this problem: “I would say the best thing you can do is just start. And once you start it just makes things easier the more you go. And anytime you fail, take a back step, or fall- It’s okay. You just get right back up and start again.”

It can be extremely frustrating when you’re in a place physically that you don’t want to be in. Maybe your clothes don’t fit right anymore, you feel uncomfortable, or you aren’t as active as you used to be. You know all of the things that you SHOULD be doing and all the things that would help you get to your goal, but you just aren’t doing them. And man does that add on feelings of overwhelm, stress and maybe even some guilt.

If you feel this is you, take a second to think about a single choice that you made today that is a step in the right direction. It could be as as simple as getting out of bed, making it to your workout or remembering to eat breakfast! You chose to do that one little thing today when you could have easily brushed it off! 👏🏻 Build on that task little by little!

And for those of you who couldn’t think of something you’ve done, the day is not over yet! Grab an extra glass of water, add some extra protein to your dinner, go for a walk around the block. Whatever just popped in your head right now, go do it!

We’re all human, we can’t always do everything, all the time- so just pick that one thing! Little habits add up to big changes!

Client Spotlight🌟

Delainey's first goal was to improve her overall health and to build muscle. After her father's sudden passing from a heart attack she realized that this body is her one and only. She started her journey with us after months of dieting. She had lost the weight she wanted to, but overall felt tired, fatigued and started to obsess over loosing weight rather than being healthier. She was looking to regain some strength back! Her commitment comes from her desire to feel great physically, mentally and emotionally. Not only did her body need this to feel less fatigued, she knew she needed to change her relationship with food and exercise.

Prior to working with us she had never done any weight training program before and needed the knowledge and guidance to safely and effectively lift weights. As we have been working together she has been feeling more and more confident in her skills and enjoys the extra push to lift heavier!

"Physically I feel so much stronger, I have so much more energy and even wake up easier. Mentally and emotionally I have healed so much with my past relationship with food and dieting. I'm able to see beyond calories. I see nutrition and what will build my body up, so I listen to my body about what it needs and what it simply wants sometimes without feeling immense guilt over it.
