A lot has changed in the last 20 years.
Things move fast.
We can order almost anything from our phones.
Answers show up in seconds.
There is always another email, another text, another notification waiting for us.

We are connected all the time.

And I think we’re seeing the impact of that.

People come into class carrying more than ever before.
Not just tight hips or sore shoulders.

Busy minds.

A hundred tabs open.
A running to do list.
Conversations from earlier in the day.
Things that still need to get done.

We are constantly being pulled somewhere else.

Yoga asks us to practice something different.

To pay attention.

One breath.
One movement.
One moment.

Focus

Again and again.
Not because it’s easy.
Because it isn’t.
The mind wanders.
We get distracted.
We start thinking about what’s next
And then we come back.
That might be one of the most important things yoga teaches us right now.
Not handstands.
Not flexibility.
Not even strength.
Though those are pretty great too. πŸ˜‰
The ability to focus.
To be where we are.
To give our attention to one thing at a time.
To remember what it feels like to be fully present in our own lives.
Have you noticed a difference in your ability to focus since starting yoga? πŸ’šπŸ‘‡πŸ’š

That post class connection πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯° At Homegrown Power Yoga, we are about so much more than just the physical practice on the mat. And while that is an important aspect of what we do, it is only one piece of our space. We strongly believe in fostering authentic community, making connections, supporting each other, and uplifting one another. Community is an integral part of our studio, and we deeply value each and every person that participates with us πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

Say hi to one of our amazing students, Sophie πŸ‘‹πŸ’š When asked why she loves Homegrown Power Yoga, Sophie shared: β€œHomegrown Power Yoga is so much more than a workout to me- it’s a community. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re surrounded by people who are supportive, uplifting, and always cheering each other on. The practice has helped me become stronger both physically and mentally while teaching me to approach myself with kindness and grace. I always leave feeling empowered, and I can’t wait to come back for the next class!”
