Today’s topic: Are you actually cringe on camera… or are you just uncomfortable watching yourself?

Because I think we spend WAY too much time worrying about how we’re going to come across before we’ve even given people the opportunity to react.

The internet is an attention economy. Your content is entering a funnel and an algorithm that you cannot completely predict.

So feed the funnel.

Post the video. See what sticks. Learn what doesn’t. Get more comfortable on camera by actually being on camera.

And maybe stop letting your own negative inner dialogue decide what everyone else is going to think before they’ve even seen it.

You don’t think your way into being comfortable on camera. You create your way there.

I heard this video of Michelle Buteau and immediately thought of myself.

I also thought of Blythe Potter for Indiana and so many other badass women who have run and lost in Indiana.

One huge thing in politics is Name ID. Not only do we have to fight like crazy for people to vote, we also need them to learn who the candidates are.

So folks, let's be of service and, with less than 100 days left until November 3, start talking about the elections and make a day of it. And if you can, request that day off from work - right now! It's not a national holiday, but I'll make it one ;)

And remember: with every loss comes a lesson. With every lesson comes an opportunity to lead by example. I'm proud of Blythe for running a hard-earned campaign, and then immediately pivoting to GOTV for candidates all across Indiana. She's using her Name ID from her race for Secretary of State to now boost the Name ID of other Democrats.

I'd definitely recommend, no matter who you are, to start refreshing on your voter laws. It's different all over the United States.

On Saturday, July 11, I joined Yulissa and others in Highland, Indiana, for a solidarity rally honoring the life of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.

Since then, another man has also lost his life during an ICE operation in Maine. Both men were later reported to have not been the intended targets.

I know this topic may be uncomfortable for some people in my feed. That's okay.

Just read Yulissa's shirt.

You don't have to agree with every word on it to ask yourself a harder question:

At what point does our loyalty to a politician become greater than our willingness to speak out when working people lose their lives?

We can disagree on immigration policy. We can debate border security. But I hope we never stop believing that every human life deserves dignity, accountability, and the courage to ask difficult questions, no matter who occupies the White House.

Everyone's asking if AI is going to replace us.
I think a better question is: Are you learning how to work with it?

That's one of the reasons I love being part of The Morning Prompt. Every conversation pushes me to think more critically, experiment more confidently, and understand where AI can make me better at what I already do.

As a creator and entrepreneur, I'm not interested in letting AI replace my creativity.

I'm interested in using it to sharpen it.

Curiosity has always been one of the best career investments you can make. AI is just giving us a new place to practice it.

Some days I stop and think:

Wow. This is my life.

I paid my 16-year-old cousin to chauffeur me around while I bounced between coffee meetings about politics, civic engagement, and the future we want to build.

In between conversations, we grabbed coffee at 219 Grounds and ended the day at 18th Street Brewery & Distillery.

And honestly? I kept thinking about what he was witnessing.

That building a meaningful career isn't always linear.
That networking isn't transactional.
That civic work happens over coffee tables as much as it does in boardrooms.
And that sometimes the people cheering you on are also the people driving you there.

Rich in life isn't about having it all figured out.

It's having people to share the ride with. 🤍

Most people see the final Reel.

I see the details that help tell the story.

When I'm filming a political event, I'm not just looking for speeches or soundbites. I'm looking for the conversations before the program starts, the audience's reactions, and the moments that reveal who people are when the cameras aren't necessarily focused on them.

That's one reason I'm grateful to work alongside Blythe Potter. She consistently steps into rooms that may not be familiar, comfortable, or guaranteed to support her. She shows up anyway because she believes leadership starts with listening.

Thank you to Reverend Chauncey D. Brown for creating space for honest dialogue and for asking the kind of bold questions that challenge leaders to think deeper and engage with perspectives different from their own.

Political video isn't just about what was said. It's about helping people feel what it was like to be there.

My job is to look beyond the podium and bring the people who couldn't make it along for the ride.
