Match Grade Machine is located in Hurricane, Utah. While we may be a new company our machinists have a combined 30 years in the business of building T/C barrels. In fact, if you’ve ever owned a Virgin Valley Guns barrels, odds are, the same people built it. We pride ourselves on using high-quality machines and tools to produce our barrels. We believe strongly that you can’t produce a quality product with inferior equipment. Our barrels are turned on high-quality manual engine lathes. Great care is taken during the turning and contouring processes to insure concentricity to the bore. Having a concentric barrel is critical when it comes to chambering. An out of round barrel will yield an oversized chamber. Once the lathe work has been completed we do the rest of the machining on a Lagun knee mill. It’s critical to have a machine with the ability to hold tolerances. For example, you can imagine what it would be like to have scope base holes that were drilled .005 off center. Even such a small slip like that will tilt your scope base severely. We guarantee our machine work to be dead on, so that things like that won’t happen. Unlike most other barrel makers, we built the entire thing in house, using a Fadal VMC 15 machining center. You can’t make a top quality barrel if you are using inferior parts. The underlug, extractors, and locking bolts must fit perfectly in order to achieve a consistent and solid lockup on the frame. Because the Encore rifle is already at an accuracy disadvantage being two pieces, it is imperative that the lockup be the same every time you close the gun. We achieve this by machining our parts out of solid aircraft grade steel. Because we build the parts ourselves, we are able to keep closer watch on the process making adjustments where needed. That allows us to hold tighter tolerances than if we hired the work out.
