Explore the early life of Frida Kahlo told through puppets! Teatro Milagro presents "Autoretrato de Fridita" at the Walters on Sunday, September 20 at 2 pm.

Young Frida becomes inspired by her father’s creativity, using her imagination and a box of paints to overcome challenges and create her own world. For all ages. Tickets are $12 advance/$15 day of show.

Hillsboro’s newest mural brings color and local imagery to the south wall of Active Chiropractic & Wellness on 2nd Avenue in Downtown!

Created by regional artist Emily Kepulis, the mural titled, Twilight in Hillsboro, was selected for Hillsboro’s 2026 Mural Idea Project.

Visit the new mural at 158 NE 2nd Avenue and explore all the public art throughout Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District!

SHARC is now reopened following annual maintenance and improvements throughout the facility!

Facility improvements include:

- New carpet in the lobby and hallway
- Spot painting in the Main Indoor Pool and Warm Water Pool
- New LED lights in the natatorium over the indoor pools
- Replacement of all bolts on the slide plus buffing and waxing
- Thorough cleaning of the entire facility
- Installation of the bulkhead in the Outdoor Pool
- Replacing caulk around the strip drains
- Structural inspection of the natatorium ceiling
- Backflow testing
- Inspection and repairs on the Natatorium air handling units
- And more!

Please note: The indoor pool slide remains closed until later this month while we await a replacement part.

Don't miss the crowd-favorite "Masskrugstemmen" beer stein holding competition at OrencoFest on Saturday, September 19!

Contest entry is $22 and may be purchased onsite — no advance sales. The entry fee includes keeping the glass stein AND you get to enjoy the beer after the competition.

The event will also feature free face painting & balloon twisting, live entertainment throughout the day, and line dancing lessons at 4:30 pm!

Heads up! All Parks & Recreation facilities will be closed this Friday, September 4 for a staff appreciation event to celebrate our wonderful Parks & Recreation team members.

We look forward to see you again and resuming regular hours the following day, September 5. SHARC's annual maintenance closure continues through September 13.

The Parks & Recreation Administration Office will be open on Friday 8 am to 10:30 am and 2:30 pm to 5 pm.
