Hillsboro Shotokan Karate-Do

Club grading yesterday with few but good students! They have showed dedication and they earned their grades. Well done everyone!

The Yoshida Cup 2026 was held this Saturday, and Hillsboro Shotokan Karate-Do made a strong showing with 15 competitors participating in both Kata and Kumite. Our students demonstrated true passion, bringing energy, dynamism, and a positive, respectful karate attitude to every round. Beyond gaining valuable tournament experience, they returned home with an impressive total of around 17 medals.

It was great practicing tonight in the SKIF Hombu Dojo under Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa. Strong karate spirit and great technical detail!

Great way to start the weekend with a zoom training with Kitagawa sensei. And even better with Kostas joining from Texas!

Congratulations to all the students who participated in last Friday's club kyu grading. Clear progress in the skills and spirit from our students that shows their passion about the martial art of traditional Shotokan karate!

It was a great weekend! Ruben Fung sensei came from Cincinnati, OH to teach for two days in our dojo. We all enjoyed a dynamic training covering kihon, kata and kumite and the parts of the grading curriculum of SKIF. We are looking forward to seeing him again soon!

Last weekend was a very busy weekend in the dojo! After our grading on Friday we had the annual potluck where our students and their families and friends get together and spend some time socializing. On Sunday morning we got together again to do the deep cleaning of the dojo and get ready for a fresh start in the new year! Great to meet and have a chance to talk and do things together!

This evening we had our kyu grading. Congratulations to everyone who participated and many wishes for your future endeavors!
