We are a karate school affiliated to Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation. We welcome individuals and families, and beginners to experts!
HSK was founded in 2006 by Sensei Guido Fischer, San Dan. He taught scores of students both at the Hillsboro and Bethany Athletic Club locations. As he chose to retire to Florida in 2017, he was happy that the dojo he started and his dedicated students will continue in very capable hands. Sensei Joseph Gasparakis, Yon Dan who has taught at several dojos in Europe before moving to the PNW, now runs

The Yoshida Cup 2026 was held this Saturday, and Hillsboro Shotokan Karate-Do made a strong showing with 15 competitors participating in both Kata and Kumite. Our students demonstrated true passion, bringing energy, dynamism, and a positive, respectful karate attitude to every round. Beyond gaining valuable tournament experience, they returned home with an impressive total of around 17 medals.
