AN ART EXHIBIT IS SCHEDULED FOR OUR FELLOWSHIP HALL,
SATURDAY, MAY 7, 10:00AM - 4:00PM
AND SUNDAY MAY 8. 12:00PM - 4:00PM
We have offered our church facilities for an art exhibit and sale, which will be held in our fellowship hall on Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8 (Mother’s Day). Artist Cathy Brooks will be exhibiting some of her paintings and will donate proceeds of her sales at this exhibit to our church, and also to cancer research.
Cathy is an artist who only started painting at age 70 after being diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for a very rare cancer. She has survived six surgeries and 118 rounds of radiation in a little over three years’ time, and her left arm has been amputated above the elbow. She still receives routine radiation treatments.
Recognizing her talent, Martin Cleveland Clinic Health Systems sponsored an online art auction to raise money for cancer research. She donated 50 paintings to this auction which raised over $31,000. Locally, she meets with other artists on Fridays at Suzanne Briley’s home to paint and socialize.
