February will be 10 years for the gym which is surprising given that I am terrible at advertising. There is a perception that we are a powerlifting gym only and it is certainly a big part of the gym. However, when we opened I was bodybuilding and the equipment was geared towards that personal goal. The powerlifting aspect was originally more of a side quest since a good bodybuilding gym already was in the area and nothing was really here for powerlifting.
In the 10 years we have had a surge of new shiny commercial gyms open with tons of cool looking equipment. We can’t compete on that front. What we can compete on is community and family with top line equipment hand selected. Members range for 16 years old training with his father to multiple 60 year old members including myself. Members range from beginners to most experienced in the powerlifting world. Strongmen, bodybuilders, powerlifters and general fitness all interact and support each other. Members travel to support each other at their meets or shows. Many from around the US and even overseas visit us. We may be better known in the powerlifting world than we are in Daytona.
Goals range from being #1 all time to keeping moving in our 60s. For each of those goals members help each other. We have coaches I who are amazing, bodywork specialist I would put up against anyone in the industry and experienced members who take newbies under their wings. No stares or laughing at the new person. The guidance offered to newbies is genuine and with a desire to help not intimidate.
Common question is how do you make money. Honest answer we don’t, but we break even and have a family I would not change to make a million dollars. Scroll through the pictures for some of the feel and great members (too many to tag on IG) Is the gym for everyone of course not, but if you crave more than the shine and glitz come give us a visit. We have fun and we foster success.
