There was spirited competition in an up-for-grabs night as upsets abounded as the Chicago Suburban Table Hockey Association gathered for the first time since many of us traveled to Detroit in late March for a pair of tournaments.
We had seven players in the first round, and newcomer Eric Jensen joined us for rounds two and three. Five of the eight players had a shot at first place headed into the last round. After 2 rounds, Coleco champ Dan Lord led the way at 9-2-2, with Paul Gasiecki at 8-1-4 and Darrin Hummel close behind at 9-3-1. Organizer Eric Krol was having an off night at 7-4-1 after faring well in Detroit on the Stiga game. Roger Carlson was strong at 7-6-0 and scored a few upsets along the way.
The third round proved decisive as Eric roared back at 6-0-1 to collect 13 out of 14 points and finish with 29 points. His 3-3 tie against Dan in the final game of the night saw Dan finish with 28 points. Paul G went 4-2-1 to end the night with 29 points. Eric had one more win to take first for the evening. Mark Frantz scored a big upset over Darrin 4-3 in the final round. That proved costly for Darrin, who finished 4th at 27 points. A win and he would have had a three-way tie for 1st. Again, a tightly contested evening with some upsets.
We will be back at it next time on the Coleco games. Date TBD. Might be May 31, might be June 7.
Thanks to Frantz Mark for many of the pics.

🥅The Chicago Suburban Table Hockey Association held a league night on the old-school, Coleco-style games on Sunday, our final Coleco tune-up before the big Detroit tournament weekend on March 27-28 (comment below or message us for more info).
🏒We had 9 players and played a round robin, then split into groups of 5 and 4 for the second round.
🏒Dan Lord continued his streak, going undefeated in the opening round. In the second round, Lord dropped his first points of the evening courtesy of a pair of ties against second-place finisher Eric Krol and an improving Darrin Hummel. Taking 3rd for the night was Mark Roberts.
🥅In the B group, Steve Milioto went 3-0 in the second round robin to take top honors. Mark Frantz played solid defense all night and downed Roger Carlson to finish second in the group.
📸Thank you to Mark F for the better-looking pics.
