We hope you enjoyed our "More About the 4" session on exercise because now's your chance to put our advice and exercise tips into action! Use this month to try out a new type of exercise. If you're one to cling to cardio, add one or two weighted movements to your workouts. As a creative agency driven by a belief in sports, it's safe to say we love a good competition, so it's always fun for us to support our clients as they prepare a nice membership challenge.

This year marks the third year of Nexus Fitness's Nexus Open, a friendly little four-week long, exercise competition where teams will compete for the title of the "Fittest Team at Nexus." With intentionally crafted programming, the workouts will keep all the participants on their toes. Nexus members, make sure to sign up. For anyone looking for a gym, we highly encourage you to try a free class at Nexus! If you hurry, you could still get in with enough time to compete!

Chris’ success in the world of sports primed him for a professional career in the fitness community. A few years after hanging up his football cleats and graduating from Clemson, he started a gym with a focus on relationships. Chris’ thoughtful leadership continues to carry the Nexus Fitness community to individual and corporate growth. While expanding his fitness model to affiliate gyms, Chris is excited to join Meag and Matt in building a sustainable nutrition program to provide a comprehensive path to a healthier lifestyle.

Fun fact: In addition to his power 5 football career, Chris was also a state champion gymnast! 🤸‍♂️

Today we'd like to highlight two of our local Birmingham clients who have reopened their doors recently - Nexus Fitness and Wheelhouse Salon!

Both of these small businesses were forced to close their doors temporarily in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Today, they are successfully running workout classes and styling hair with diligent safety precautions in place for Birmingham customers. We are amazed by the resilience shown by these two great businesses!

It’s summer in Alabama, so we know there’s no getting around a sweaty workout. However, even a 1 to 2 % loss of body weight (from water) can compromise your performance and impact your body’s ability to cool itself. The heart pumps harder, circulation slows + muscles fatigue more quickly.

Our top hydration tips? 💦
1. Start hydrating! like yesterday.
2. Supplement your water with electrolytes.
3. Limit caffeine / alcohol on days you plan for longer outdoor workouts.
