This past Memorial Weekend our Nexgen squad competed in the Maryknoll Basketball Legacy Tournament. Big thank you to Maryknoll School Basketball Program for hosting an incredible event, and to Coach Kelly, his son Payton, and Coach Kendall for making it all happen.

To our players, families, and coaches, thank you for showing up, sacrificing your time, and giving everything you had.

Meet Jessiya Villa

Before all of it, he served a two-year church mission to Ghana and came back the kind of leader his coaches trusted with the ball, the locker room, and the culture.

Now he runs Island Grind, training the next wave of Hawai‘i guards in the same things that made him: pace, reads, PNR decisions, and the IQ to run a team.

Faith. Toughness. Point guard DNA. This is exactly the voice we want in our guards’ ears for five days.

Specialties: ball-handling, pace, court vision, pick-and-roll reads, leadership.

Small Forward | Class of 2031

Blue Wave wrapped up a strong weekend competing at the Adidas Jr. 3SSB event in Ladera, CA, and Zoe was one of the players who continued to make her presence felt throughout the tournament.

Strong, physical, and skilled, Zoe impacts the game in multiple ways. Her footwork, court awareness, and ability to run the lane make her a tough matchup in transition, while her downhill attack consistently puts pressure on opposing defenses.

Weekends like this are valuable for the continued growth and development of players like Zoe as they compete against high-level programs and gain experience on a bigger stage. Proud of the way she competed and represented the Blue Wave program throughout the event.

The future is bright and the work continues. 📈🌊

Today we celebrate not only your birthday, but the incredible impact you’ve made on so many athletes, families, and our entire Uptempo family. Your dedication, loyalty, leadership, and willingness to pour into others has meant more than words can express.
