Let’s do some mending magick. I found this backpack at Goodwill and automatically knew who it needed to belong to. Honestly, I’m a sucker for a good Vera Bradley pattern, and one of my strengths at the store in Waikiki was to help people match find a pattern that match their aesthetic. But this bag practically jumped off the shelf, telling me it needed to meet 𝔞𝔩𝔢𝔵𝔦𝔰 . I haven’t done much sewing in a while, so this felt like nice practice. It also got me thinking of how many little spells we are taught and do without knowing they are magic. In high school I remember sewing with someone and they told me to gently prick my finger at the beginning to get it over with, so the needle isn’t curious the whole time. I didn’t know it was witchcraft then. I can surely recognize it now. Special thanks to Raechel Henderson for guidance from her book Sew Witchy. 🫶
