I remember coming from Sweden, my first day in Hi 1986, Joe Camacho, one of the owners of Pink Cadillac and Partner of my bro Peter had this great house on the hill overlooking the ocean of Kahala, he's like Henry have you watched Miami vice, no? And this episode came on, this song makes me feel so good, despite the somewhat tragic story of the video, the years that followed on Hawaii was heaven in music, food, girls, surf , high's and hangovers, i've been back and forth La and Honolulu, but lived 14 years in total in Honolulu, pursuing everything from Mexican restaurants to pop bands, i love Hawaii, it will always be my second home, but nothing could compare to walking up those stairs at Pinks with some great music vibing out those upper stairs, much cudos to my brother Peter, he realised it was important to make people who were not from La to visit record stores in New York, Sweden, or the Uk to get tracks that would be ahead of the Us mtv stuff, it worked, even Stock Aitken & Waterman worked in the mids of the Cure and Depeche, settings perhaps just because it had better sound, Venus by Banarama was the biggest song there and at the next door Wave, anyhow, enough for now, enjoy these dudes from the former group 10 cc!
