Aloha,
On March 30, 2023, Kealohilaini “Sam” Ahai passed away.
He was the Head Coach and President of Kamehameha Canoe Club for the past 5 decades. He touched so many lives and the out pouring of love and support is amazing.
Sam was so happy and grateful to see that the club was rebuilding. He talked to Dirk and had planned to come down to the race on Saturday. Well he did! Many of us felt your presence as we padded out from Magic Island.
Sam, you were such a big part of our lives. Thank you for the countless ways you helped to shape us into the men and women we are today. We love you and you will always be in our hearts.
Please keep Kaleo, Renee and Tesia along with the rest of the Ahai Ohana in your prayers and thoughts. We will let you know as soon as a date is set for the memorial and celebration. I know that many of us are eager to extend our support in honoring Sam.
“For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even unto death.”
Psalm 48:14
Love and Blessings,
Coach Dirk Neal and Kini Neal (President, Friends of Kamehameha Canoe Club)
