Wow! Finally saw this and Loved it! I am a huge fan of Alice Walker’s writing and the original film… This cast was so great - specifically Colman Domingo (Mister), and Danielle Brooks, who out-Sofia’d the original Sofia - what an incredible talent! And Everybody’s in this - Halle Bailey, David Alan Grier, John Batiste, Louis Gossett Jr! … And the show-stopping performance from Fantasia Barrino, who owns this role and delivered such a moving and masterful performance - her emotional vocal mastery is unmatched on film. Big kudos to Taraji P. Henson (Shug Avery) for holding her own alongside Fantasia’s incredible vocals. That’s how you get to see Fantasia’s ginormous talent - when you put her in a film with a mega seasoned actress like Taraji and she still steals every scene. If Fantasia, Colman and Danielle don’t get nominated for some awards I’ma be mad! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
