The life of any canoe is in the ocean, and as such, it is Hui Nalu’s goal to raise enough funds to bring ‘Uhane “up to speed” and on par with the fastest Bradley’s of today and get her back into the ocean where she belongs.

Hui Nalu Wine Tasting Fundraiser at 3660 on the Rise on Waialae Ave, on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 6-8:30pm.

This fundraiser is in support of re-shaping ‘Uhanepanoakalani (one of Hui Nalu’s 3 koa canoes) to enhance her speed, strength, and overall racing capabilities. ‘Uhane (as most of us call her) was built from one solid log and she’s stunningly beautiful. Built by uncle Sonny Bradley in the late 1970’s, ‘Uhane was shaped to beat the classic Malia mold canoe (the fastest and cutting edge canoe of the 70’s). As canoe designs progressed in the 80’s, 90’s and 20th century, ‘Uhane’s once sleek design was quickly outpaced by newer and faster canoes. The life of any canoe is in the ocean, and as such, it is Hui Nalu’s goal to raise enough funds to bring ‘Uhane “up to speed” and on par with the fastest Bradley’s of today and get her back into the ocean where she belongs.

Tickets are $125 each. You receive an $80 tax deductible donation and an evening of pupus, wine, entertainment and a silent auction at 3660 on the Rise on Waialae Avenue.
