River sniffing around, my feet in the current, water running past — and then a deer walked right into the river and crossed to the other side.

Nervous system health isn’t just about managing stress — it’s about having enough capacity to actually take in moments like this. That’s the whole reason I do what I do.

Wasn’t ready for this view. 😳
River sat this one out — too hot for her, so she’s living her best life at doggy daycare instead.
I hope you’re having a good week — see you next Wednesday. 🐾🐶

Loading up today. Not sure I’m ready.

Me, my partner, River — one truck, time away, and the same aching guilt between living my life and showing up for the people I love.

Come walk with us before we go — see you next Wednesday. 🐾💛

Walking Wednesday 🐾 🐶

No coffee. A school bus. It hit me.

Summer’s just... gone.

River and I saved you a spot.
Come walk with us. 🐾🤍

You could be saying the most helpful, reasonable thing in the world.

If the person receiving it is activated — racing, defensive, bracing — it just won’t land. Not because they don’t care. Because their nervous system isn’t in a state to receive it yet.

This isn’t about being a better communicator. It’s about checking their state before you check your words. There are usually some clear signs, if you know what to look for.

Practice, not perfection.

Walking Wednesday 🐾 🐶
There's a strange dog in my living room.

Middle of the day, I turn around — and there she is. Just standing there. Calm as anything. Like she'd lived there her whole life.

No neighbor in sight. Just his dog, casually making herself at home. Turns out the sliding door was open and she just walked right in. It happened so fast I didn't even grab my phone in time — by the time I did, she was already back outside.

River was thrilled. I was very confused. The neighbor had no idea she was even gone.

Apparently my house has an open-door policy now.

Hope you’re having a good week— see you next Wednesday. 🐾

I walked into a room and forgot why. Here's what might be going on.

There's real research connecting cumulative stress — allostatic load — to this exact kind of fog.

Your body pulling energy toward survival, away from memory and focus. This kind of fog is incredibly common in midlife — you're far from alone in this.

It changed the question I ask myself: not "what's wrong with me?" but "what does my nervous system need right now?"

If something ever feels different than your usual pattern, that's worth a quick conversation with your doctor, just to be safe.

Save this one for the next time your brain fogs up on you. Follow along — midlife women figuring this out together. 🤍
