Welcome to Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, the first day of meteorological fall. Yes, meteorological fall is a thing. Just like every meteorological season, these start on the 1st of every month instead of the 21st. Today's weather? Not quite getting that "fall" memo.
High temperatures in the 80s and 90s minus lakeshore areas. Feels like temperatures will be into the 90s and 100s in the Lower Peninsula primarily, as dew points spike into the mid 70s. Partly cloudy skies are expected for much of the day. There is a chance for isolated severe thunderstorms. Isolated is the key word here. Most of us won't see precipitation until tomorrow, if at all. If a storm does form, large hail, and gusty winds up to 60 mph will be the main threats.
Stay safe, primarily from the heat. Avoid prolonged periods of time in the sunshine/heat to avoid heat illness, and follow along here at MSC for live severe weather coverage whenever a warning is issued.
