Grab your brooms and ride the wind, you're just in time for Witches Weekend! This wickedly fun event brings covens of witches from all over to enjoy a weekend in Houghton Lake. Brooke and Betty are ready to join in on the fun! The broom rides may be a little scary with the forecasted wind today. Have a great weekend and happy witching! 🧙‍♀️

If you are going to be on or anywhere near the water tomorrow, be especially careful. Make sure items are secured outside and prepare for potential power outages.

Our final update prior to tomorrow in regards to the heavier wind gusts is here. October 16th, 2026 will be a windy one across the entire state of Michigan.

Not much change in this update, other than refining the 40-50 mph zones closer to each of the lakes, while expanding the 40-50 mph zone to include more of the thumb. The best chance to see gusts over 50 mph will be along Lake Superior near Munising and Copper Harbor. Prepare for isolated power outages in these higher wind gust areas shown along each of the lakes. Sustained winds during this period will still be in the ballpark of 20-30 mph, primarily out of the north.
