The North Houston Ice Rink is within reach. Your support moves this from dream to reality.
“The North Houston Ice Rink is the ideal site for Houston’s next community ice facility. Located off I‑45, the Barren Springs property offers the space, access, and visibility needed for a full‑scale rink and supporting amenities. The Houston Hockey Community (HHC), as the nonprofit leading this initiative, is driving the project to ensure it’s built by the community, for the community making ice sports accessible and sustainable for generations.”

We have to give this a go. So many reasons why. This is for an entire community!
Revised Language for clarification based on some comments 5/15
Houston Hockey Community Established in 2023 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making hockey and skating accessible, affordable, and inclusive for families across Greater Houston.
Houston is the 4th‑largest city in America and after July 2026 we may only have 7 Sheets of Ice. (Mostly on the Southwest Side of the City)
Over the past 13 years, two privately owned rinks have closed or are scheduled to close, and every time a rink shuts down, the community loses more than a building:
Families lose access.
Kids lose opportunities.
Coaches lose ice time.
Entire programs get cancelled or turned away.
And through all of this, Houston has never had a rink the community actually owns.
That changes now if we move together.
We’ve officially secured land in North Houston off I‑45.
WE HAVE SIGNED A PURCHASE AGREEMENT
at 232 Barren Springs Drive 77090
Located by the recently acquired HHC Houston Premier Sportsplex 221 Barren Springs
(Inline Hockey Ball Hockey, Lacrosse, Derby and more.)
Right now, there is nothing on the Northside off 45 N to support Ice Sports youth & adult hockey, figure skating, public skating, or sled hockey and Curling. Families in Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, Humble, and Kingwood will definitely benefit and having more ice sooner than later is a good thing right?
There is only one rink off 249 in the Northwest side. The other rinks people are driving across the city just to skate. Yes a rink in Clearlake/Pearland area would be nice again. We hope to contribute and help that cause too one day. There are talks about a large arena project for an ECHL team, Its probable but that's not for certain and could take a decade.
In the meantime we have shovel ready land to build on now as a community. Community Rinks are intended to be affordable and easily accessible.
We now have 90 days to raise $1.2M to make this land a community‑owned asset.
If we hit that goal, we unlock the grants, matching funds, and sponsorships that turn $1.2M into a $12M rink serving the entire Northside and beyond.
A community ice rink typically takes 12–18 months from kickoff to opening, based on standard planning, design, permitting, and construction phases. We hope to Open by the end of 2027
