Sebastian Lukács Gorka (born October 22, 1970) is a British-born Hungarian-American military and intelligence analyst, media commentator, author, and government official. He currently serves as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council in the second Trump administration (appointed in late 2024/January 2025). 
Early Life and Education
Gorka was born in London, England, to Hungarian parents Zsuzsa and Pál Gorka, who fled Hungary after the failed 1956 anti-Soviet uprising and became naturalized British citizens. He lived in Hungary from 1992 to 2008. He earned degrees in the UK, including a doctorate, and served in the British military as a reserve intelligence soldier. He later became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2012. 
Career
• Academia and Think Tanks: He has held positions such as the Major General Horner Chair of Military Theory at the Marine Corps University and Associate Dean for Congressional Affairs at the National Defense University. He was appointed to the Pentagon’s National Security Education Board in 2020. 
• Media: Gorka is a prominent conservative voice, affiliated with Salem Radio Network and NewsMax TV. He previously worked as national security editor at Breitbart. He hosts shows and frequently comments on national security, counterterrorism, and “America First” policies. 
• Politics and Government: He advised Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign on national security. In the first Trump administration (2017), he served briefly as Deputy Assistant to the President before departing amid internal dynamics. He returned to a similar high-level counterterrorism role in the second Trump term. 
Books and Views
He is the author of several books, including the New York Times bestseller Defeating Jihad, Why We Fight, and The War for America’s Soul. Gorka is known for his strong views on counterterrorism, criticism of radical Islam, and advocacy for robust national security policies. 
He is married to American counterterrorism specialist Katharine Gorka and maintains an active public presence through speaking engagements, social media (), and his website.
