This morning, I had the opportunity to join for their one year anniversary. Every Sunday at 9 am women meet at Wortham Fountain for a group walk and frequently have other popup events, and often walk on Saturday. Met some great people and enjoyed a nice walk on a beautiful day.
Group walks are such a great way to get movement in for those who are just starting a fitness journey. It makes the experience fun and helps to build the habit of movement. For seasoned lifters, group walks can count towards programmed weekly cardio or act as active recovery day activities. Everyone can benefit from getting outside and walking more, especially surrounded by great people and a fun atmosphere

Research conducted by Strava has called January 19th “Quitter’s Day,” finding that most people have given up on their New Year’s Resolutions by January 19th. After today’s Lunch ‘N Learn, hosted by I know our group at 3 Greenway Plaza is going to succeed with their resolutions and big goals this year! With so many people at they gym with resolutions to lose weight, the sauna and steam rooms are often filled to standing room only. I love both the sauna and the steam room, but contrary to popular belief, sweating in these rooms is not burning fat. Sweating it out in the sauna and steam room sweats water (and electrolytes) not fat. But there are still so many benefits to this sweating. It helps to ease muscle and joint soreness, detoxify the body, reduce stress, and improve sleep.
So next time you are at the gym, enjoy a good sweat. Sweat for health and wellness, not fat burn.

Day 2 of a 14 week prep for Mexico! Checking all the boxes! Putting my all in to workouts and hitting macros to the gram! This weekend I wrote myself a new workout split that accommodates Krav training, strategic rest days, and muscles I’d like to target. I wrote a macro plan and prepped my ingredients for the next few days. Checking the boxes everyday looks a little differently this time around because I will be increasing focusing on self care. Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity to return to San Felipe Plaza for a second Lunch N’ Learn. It was so great to see so many returning attendees and lots of new faces! had the most beautiful lunch catered from the cafe right in the building perfect for learning about visualizing healthy portions of proteins, carbs, and fats and begin the discussion on Nutrition Programming.

Today starts our November series of Lunch ‘N Learn seminars with This month we will be learning all about Nutrition Programming. We will start at the beginning with reading nutrition labels and the problems they can present. We will cover visualizing your portion sizes with your hand and dive in to macro tracking. We will even learn the nutrient timing, meal prepping and hydration techniques that competitive bodybuilders use. It has just hit me that I am over a year in to following a lifestyle accommodating numerous food sensitivities. I remember being last Halloween and a few weeks in to being gluten free, dairy free, egg free, peanut free and avoiding numerous other foods I have tested as being sensitive too. Since cutting these foods out, my energy has sky rocketed and my brain has been clearer. In the past year I have deviated three times, and felt the effects for a few days after. However, taking these items out of my diet has given me the opportunity to experiment and play with new foods, to indulge in healthy treats instead of junk, and to experience the nourishment and energy that properly fueling your body in the way that is best for you brings. What foods do you eat that make you feel bloated, sluggish, brain fogged, or dull?

Today we finished up our month of “How to Build and Progress the Best Workout Program For You” Lunch ‘N Learns for with 3 Greenway Plaza. Once again Parkway provided a delicious and nutrition lunch for our event and we had a great group of individuals excited to learn. Next month we start our series of Nutrition Lunch ‘N Learns for 4 incredible Parkway managed office buildings.
