I'd like to take a moment to recognize the crucial role that optometrists play in public health. Doctors of Optometry occupy a unique position in healthcare.
Patients may come to them for routine eye care, but optometrists have the ability to identify health issues that patients may not typically associate with an eye exam.
Due to advancements in the field of optometry, optometrists often identify broader health issues, such as diabetes and heart disease, in the communities they serve.
I have a special place in my heart for the field of optometry, optometrists, and optometry students. Thank you for the work that you do, I hope you feel appreciated and loved today.
Happy World Optometry Day!
