Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children five and under. At GG's Infant Aquatics I teach kids the "SWIM•Float•SWIM" technique.
I prepare them to learn to survive if they find themselves alone in the water. A little bio about me:

A 3 year old boy drowned in an apartment pool in Dallas county.
A 2 year old boy drowned in a backyard pool in Dallas county.
A 2 year old girl drowned in a pond in Ector county.
A 1 year old girl drowned in a bathtub in Ellis county.
A 6 year old boy drowned in a pond in Fannin county.
A 9 year old boy drowned in a pond in Fannin county.
An 8 year old boy drowned in a pond in Fannin county.
A 4 year old boy drowned in an apartment pool in Galveston county.
A 9 month old boy drowned in a bathtub in Guadalupe county.
A 3 year old girl drowned in a backyard pool in Harris county.
A 6 year old boy drowned in a backyard pool in Harris county.
A 2 year old girl drowned in a backyard pool in Harris county.

Drowning is the LEADING CAUSE of death for children ages 1 to 4 and one of the top causes for older children as well. It happens quickly and silently.
It only takes inches. May is Drowning Prevention Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the very real risks around water, especially for children.
Please take a moment to review these important water safety tips:
👀 Always provide constant, active supervision around water
🚫 Never rely on floaties or toys as a substitute for supervision
🏊♂️ Enroll children in age appropriate swim lessons
🔒 Secure pools and spas with proper barriers and locked gates
🚫 Put distractions away and stay focused when watching children
🛟 Learn CPR so you can act quickly in an emergency
🚪 Keep bathroom doors closed and toilet lids secured for young children
🌊 Empty buckets, kiddie pools, and containers after each use
Together, we can take simple steps that help prevent tragedies and keep children safe.

I have several moms who follow this influencer distraught over learning her son died in their back yard. They told me her story and I unfortunately hear these stories often.
While I’m not part of ISR, I teach through IAS (Infant Aquatic Survival)—and the techniques are the same. These are survival-based swim lessons designed to give children the skills to save themselves if they ever find themselves in the water alone.
No lesson replaces supervision. Ever.But layers of protection matter—and survival swim skills are one of the most important layers you can give your child.
If you’ve ever thought about swim lessons, let this be your reminder: it’s not about swimming… it’s about survival.
