Deja vu!!!

Dumb dog decide the cut the corner of the gate a little too close at full speed. Snagged the end of a bolt and the rest is history.

Good thing is, we’ve been through this before and know what to do!

Bad thing is, it always happens on Friday at the end of the day when all the vets are closing and your only option is an emergency vet. It also times with a really busy schedule that has no spare time to deal with this crap.

Took him to one unnamed emergency vet in the Houston Heights that wanted $1,800 for a few stitches. Called our vet who gave us treatment instructions and recommendations, so we will head to the country in the morning to get Tex all sewed up.

Pretty boy will now have a scar like his big brother. So frustrating and annoying.

Day 2. What an epic morning. Slammed the reds and caught/released this 24” trout. Only had 4 hours to fish and made the most of it. The guys are going home with a cooler of fish and great memories. I’m grateful for the invite and can’t wait for the next excursion.

It’s been a few years since the last Port Mansfield trip. Day 1, limits of trout and a few reds. Caught a bunch of undersized trout and had a great time wading the Laguna Madre. The afternoon was filled with college football, plenty of drinks and great food. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Doing a little clean up in the deer woods before the season. Cutting in trails and fixing stands. Came across this hive. Might be a cool addition to the trophy room one day when the tenants move out.

It only took Boone 8 years to figure it out but this season he actually started to retrieve birds.

In the past he flushed plenty of pheasants, he found his share as well but he never did more than pick them up and drop them.

As he and I were blocking one of our first fields in 2025 a bird crashed on the edge of a food plot. Not thinking anything about it I kept watching the field for more birds. When the flush was through I looked over toward that bird, I figured I needed to go pick it up.

Here Boone was holding the bird in his mouth and walking over to me. He dropped it on the ground and started looking for more birds. I was shocked.

Hunt after hunt he continued to retrieve birds and finished the trip as a somewhat reliable bird retriever.

We need to work on birds that land in the food plots and thick cover, he brought a few out but those were usually the ones we needed the pro dogs for.

Looking forward to the upcoming pheasant and quail hunts.

Limits again and a happy crew. Lots of camaraderie, great food and unlimited drinks. Such a successful hunt that these guys already booked 2 trips for 2026.

Let’s Go!

Broke away for an afternoon of fishing on the Missouri River. It was slow but a fun experience. We all caught our first walleye and brought back a few for dinner. We might come back prime time in the summer to load coolers with fish. Back to the field for what we are really here for.

Day Two!

Fantastic hunt, more limits and some great memories with everyone. In fact we had limits so fast we got to enjoy the afternoon watching college football, hanging by the fire pit and enjoying some delicious food and drinks.

We are ready for the next group and expect another fabulous experience!

It’s that time of year again!

Day one of our 2025 pheasant hunts. Limits, just as we left off last year. It’s the trip so many of our customers look forward too. We had a fantastic day in the field and can’t wait for many more days just like it.

Curious Buck!

What a cool encounter. This past turkey season, while nestled up in the brush along a corn field in PA, I had this little guy stop by. As you can see he was very interested in me.

Honestly I had a slow week and this was my last morning hunt. Was not expecting much since the birds were not talking and I almost slept in. But I decide to give it one last try. We didn’t see any birds but these are the experiences that make it worth getting out of the house and in the woods.

Did a little shed hunting this season at a few of our favorite ranches. Ended up with quite the haul. We are running out of space on our shed rack in the garage. Time to come up with a way to display them all.
