Well played. I am proud of this young man! He is a rising senior in high school. Scholarship offer extended to him. Brains and brawn. In match one (1) the game ended in a stalemate. In match two (2), he played strongly until the very end. This is our community's future!

Happy Belated Birthday to this young scholar! The goal is not wins or losses. The goal is to build confidence in our youth. We desire to affirm them so they have a healthy self-image. She just turned 6 and opted to spend some of her birthday with us, playing chess and learning the game! The decisions on the chessboard carry over to life decisions.

What an AMAZING Juneteenth Chess Tournament. The parents were patient with the volunteers. The youth played well and displayed sportsmanship. The food from a Dominican Vendor was superb. The venue was REMARKABLE. Our breaks were filled with great views and high energy. As a Tournament Director, I learned so much and made tremendous connections with parents!

The JUNETEENTH Chess Tournament is around the corner! Less than 48 hours from now. Registration is at the door. I shall arrive early. Expect high energy, fun, and a tremendously positive environment. Parents, you are welcome to make it a family event. Take pictures. You will have access to food vendors. We will tour the youth around the facility and provide a brief history lesson because there is rich historical context.

One of my favorite things about teaching chess is watching students discover that they are capable of more than they realize.
Every strong player starts with the fundamentals.
Learning how the pieces move.
Recognizing patterns.
Thinking ahead.
Building confidence one move at a time.
Chess teaches patience, focus, critical thinking, and decision-making—skills that extend far beyond the board.
Excited to continue helping young minds grow through chess. ♟️

Parents often ask me:
"Why should my child learn chess?"
The answer goes far beyond the game itself.
Chess teaches students to slow down before reacting.
To think through consequences.
To solve problems.
To make decisions with confidence.
To learn from mistakes and keep moving forward.
Every lesson at TD² Chess Academy is about helping students build skills that extend beyond the chessboard.

Watching students think through positions, ask questions, and challenge themselves has been one of the most rewarding parts of teaching chess.
Every student starts somewhere.
What matters is learning to slow down, think ahead, and build confidence one move at a time. ♟️
Excited for what is ahead this summer.

One thing I’ve learned about teaching:
Every student learns differently.
Some students learn by watching.
Some by asking questions.
Some by jumping right in and making moves.
My goal is to meet students where they are — helping them grow in confidence, focus, patience, and critical thinking one move at a time.
Chess is more than a game. It is a tool for growth. ♟️
