Twin Oaks Aikido lost a valued member of our community on September 6. Ernesto Bordon began practicing Aikido at age 70, despite having no previous martial arts experience. Through dedication and hard work, he developed some of the most beautiful rolls of any of our students. As his skills grew, so did his confidence, and he approached training with a fearlessness that inspired those around him. Passing his black belt test at 82 was one of the proudest achievements of his life, and it was a life filled with accomplishments. Ernesto was also a beloved part of our dojo community, participating in social activities and sharing many evenings over dark chocolate and a glass of w**e. Members of Twin Oaks Aikido and Shobu Aikido Houston will miss his warmth, energy, and friendship, and we raise a glass in his memory.
