“Bolero”
Composed by Maurice Ravel, Boléro is easily one of the most recognizable orchestral works ever written.
With a single rhythm and a melody that never fades, the original choreography, by Victoria Vittum, and striking layered costumes mirror the music’s thrilling intensity. Step by step there is a hypnotic rise until the stage is filled with unstoppable energy.
See the journey of explosive expression at Celebration of Dance.

“Sleeping Beauty: Aurora’s Wedding”
In the ballet’s glittering final act, Princess Aurora steps into her radiant future, crowned not only as a bride but as a queen in spirit. The court gathers in celebration, and fairy-tale guests offer dazzling divertissements.
The grand pas de deux, featuring guest artists Olivia Jacobus and Andrew Vecseri of Kansas City Ballet, shimmers with regal strength and joy.
Set to the lush, score of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and originally choreographed by Marius Petipa, now staged by HRB’s Victoria Vittum and Barbara LeGault, this masterpiece of classical technique showcases pristine footwork, crystalline épaulement, and the formal beauty that defines the height of classical ballet tradition.
Don’t sleep on this year’s Celebration of Dance!

Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!
Whether the weather brings snow or whether the weather brings ice,
We love to dance, in whatever the weather, dancing makes us feel nice!

Martin Luther King Jr.'s most famous "dream" quote is: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". This powerful line, from his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech, envisions a future of racial equality and brotherhood, where people are valued for their inner selves, not their outward appearance, and it's part of a larger dream for America to fulfill its creed that all are created equal.
At Ballet Center of Houston, we fully embrace this dream and welcome all students who wish to learn the art of ballet!
